Hurry up! Hurry up! Hurry up! I raced downstairs and practically drank all my breakfast. I was SOOO excited for my first day of work, to finally be out of this dumb place. I practically ran across town, singing and smiling. By the time I got there I talked to everybody, and they were all pretty friendly. All day long we chatted while we worked. I was on cashier duty, so me and my co-worker Caleb talked and took orders. He's actually really sweet, and he called me cute. I'm pretty sure he was joking, but I blushed pretty bad anyway. Then after the day flew by I left. As I walked, I heard someone walking behind me, I turned to look a little, and there was this tall guy walking behind me, looking all distracted. I felt nervous, cuz of what all the girls back home said, and I thought I'd try running before he called me.
"Lyra."
He knew my name. I officially freaked out, he was gonna get me, I knew it. The girls were right, and if I hesitated I was dead. I turned and sweeped him, just like the matrons taught me. Then I saw him, my imaginary friend from When I was younger. He was real. He had been stalking me my whole life behind a mask. Now He's gonna kill me. I sprayed him with my pepper spray and ran. Now I'm in bed, still shaking, I'm scared he's going to come here. He's gotten in before so he can again. I'm not getting any sleep tonight.
