As I shoved the books into my bag, I felt 2 arms rap around me. As if instinct, I elbowed who ever is was that dared to pop my bubble of comfort. I spun around to see a male hunched over and holding his stomach. The thought of walking away from the scene came to mind, but looking around I saw people had started to stare. I slowly put my hand on the human in pain and asked
"Hey, are you alright?" Please say yes so can leave. People where still staring and was get quite obnoxious.
"Come on Ray, you didn't have to do that." I recognized that voice anywhere, it was him. Damn why did I have to ask this stupid trucker if he was okay. Before he the full chance to recover I slammed my locker and began to walk away. That was before someone yanked me back by my arm.
"Hey, aren't you gonna say sorry to me." I did my best not to make any sort of eye contact and pretended as if I couldn't hear him.
"Look I'm sorry for ditching you and I know I should have done it but the guys were all inciting. So I kinda had to go." His excuses were pathetic, the least he could do was give me a better reason.
"Seriously, you're really gonna play this childish game?" He ask a bit frustrated. "Fine! Don't talk to me but when you need someone to show you around I promise I won't be there." He said walking away.
Dumba**, thought I need him to show me around. Maybe if he been here then he would have know that I had already got a tour of the school. After finishing my thought I start walking towards my next classes and hoped for the best.
The two hours went by fast before lunch had arrived. Standing up from my desk I headed towards the door think who I would sit with for lunch. Maybe I could..."Raven, you left your book" I turned around to see a girl few inches shorter than me.
"Oh, thanks." ,I said taking the book.
"No problem." I had started to walk away before she asked "Would you like sit with me at lunch?"
"I would love to." ,I replied kinda relieved.
"My name's Ruby by the way" , she said as we walked towards the cafeteria. She lead to a line as soon as we reached the cafeteria. I picked up a plate and looked at the options that I had. Deciding to get Chou-mein and fried tofu, I pulled out my wallet from my bag and handed the cashier a $4 bill before grabbing a water bottle. After I followed Ruby to an empty table, were we decided to sit across from each other.
"So tell me a bit about yourself." She said a few minutes into eating. I made did my best to quickly swallow my food before I started talking.
"Well, I just moved here and am living with some family friends. But I'm originally from New York. My parents both run a firm and I have 5 younger siblings." I finished realizing how boring I sounded.
"What the last name of the that you're living with?"
"Taylor, the last name is Taylor." Her eyes widened at the sound of the name.
"No way, you mean to say the you're living with the Taylors. As in Everest Taylor." She said a bit too excited.
"Yeah, me and Everest childhood best friends."
"Then why aren't you hanging out with him?", she asked a bit confused.
"Well the D-bag decided he wanted to ditch me the weekend I arrived so I'm kinda mad at him." ,I replied.
"I could never be mad at him, he's too hot to get mad at. And on top of that he's one of the basketball team's best players. Everyone loves him." She said sounding all lovey-dovey.
"Well at this moment I don't, it was so rude of him to do what he did. He left me to hang out with his stupid friends. It not like he couldn't have hung out with them next weekend. But whatever, I really don't care about that."
"Yeah I am sure you don't." ,she said not sounding the tiniest bit convinced.
I looked it over and decided to change the subject not wanting to discuss the topic.
"Hey can you show me the way to the parking lot. I think I don't want to go to the last two periods." I asked hoping she would say yes without question.
"Uhm...yeah sure." We got up and threw away the trashed before heading to the parking lot.
As I arrived home I saw that only June's car was in the driveway. Hopefully she wouldn't be mad at me for ditching. I'll just be stealthy. As I slowly crept into the house I could smell all the aromas of the food. I peaked my head into the kitchen to see the counter full with all sorts of foods, and couldn't help but walk over and grab a cookie or two.
"You're back already?" I looked up to June who seemed to surprised. I had been caught. No point in making up an excuse since she knew me very well. Now that I think about it, June had always been a mother figure to me and was there when my actual mother wasn't. She never treated me treated me different from any of her children.
"Hello, earth to Raven." ,she waved her hand in front of my face. Lost in my thoughts again.
"Oh yeah, sorry. I kinda didn't feel like going to the last two classes. Plus I have no friends and didn't want to be a loner." ,I said(kinda whined).
Giving a knowing look she said "Just don't make it a habit."
"Promise I won't." And with that she turned around grabbed a plate and have it to me.
"Here, you can grab a small snack but don't fill up. I'm making a big dinner tonight since Everest has his team coming over." Quickly taking the plate I started to fill it with cookies before heading up to my room.
I decided that I would complete my homework and then shower. Taking out my books I sat down on my bed with my cookies and turned on some music. It always helped my concentrate on my math and science homework but not on English or history. Which I found really weird.
It took my about an hour and thirty minutes before I was done. Looking at the clock which read 3:14, meaning school was probably out by now and Everest would be home with his friends. After putting away my books I walked over to my closet and grab some clothing to wear, before heading to the bathroom.
About 45 minutes in the shower later, I felt refreshed and presentable. I don't know why but I felt as if I need to look nice for these friends of Everest, which was totally stupid. I could hear yelling out side and decided to be a bit stalkerish. I walked over to my window to see what was happening and to my surprise there were about 12 guys playing basketball in the backyard, one of them being Everest. Of course he would invite his whole team over. I looked over and saw the twins swimming in the pool while Caylin was trying to help little Daniel put on his arm floaties.
I kinda got the urge to swim since I hadn't done it in a while. It was already cold in New York at this time of the year and the polls were all closed. Look down at my attire, I was wearing a fitted t-shirt and yoga pant. I decided to change into a pair of shorts ans maybe a over size shirt before heading down stairs.
After changing I headed down to the kitchen were June no longer was. I guess she must be in the backyard also. And from the looks of it all the food must have been moved outside cause it was no longer covering the counters. I headed towards the backyard and braces myself for the looks that I would receive, but nothing could prepare me for what I actually I got.
Stepping outside I felt ice cold water being dumped all over my body.
