Winter 1964
I just got out of the shower. I had only 30 minutes to get ready before the Grammy's. I quickly put on my clothes and rushed to the limo outside the prestigous Hilton hotel in Los Angeles. When I got in the limo, the chaffeur asked,"Where to, Mr. Davis?" I say,"The Grammy's of course!" After driving for a few minutes, I see hundreds of people on the sides of the red carpet. I saw a reporter talking to various musicians, artists, producers, etc. When I get out the limo, my name was screamed all over. The reporter came to me and asked,"Mr. Freddy Davis, How does it feel to be the first african american man to be nominated for three grammy's including Album of the Year?" I replied,"It's unexplainable. I have achieved heights I never thought my 5'5 self could reach." Me and the reporter laughed and then he said,"I wish you the best of luck on winning your Grammy's." I thank him and then I walk inside the door.
