I put my books in my locker when I see a shadow block the hallway lights. "the car ride was a little boring without your constant singing in my ear and raven's bickering for you to shut up." Ty said from behind me. I turned around. "Yeah, sorry 'bout that. I overslept and my dad drove me." "ok I'll walk you to class" he laughed.
"so are we still on for tonight?"
"Actually sorry I have to study for my history exam. my dad's been on my ass about my grades. therefore, I can't leave the house unless I get an 80 or above."
"its fine I can come over and help u study and we can just watch the movie there."
"ok ill text my dad and let him know that you're coming over.
******LATER THAT DAY******
"So my dad said that we are gonna go to Kanas tonight but we won't be home for two weeks." Raven said as we all got out of the car. "I'll help you pack." I offered. "wait I thought u were gonna help me study I really need your help." Ty said disappointed. "I'll come by after I promise it won't take that long." I reassured him.
he shrugged his shoulders and went into his house. I crossed the street with raven. "Why does he need your help studying?" She asked while unlocking the door. "He's gonna flunk history if he doesn't get an 80 or above on this next test." I said plopping on the couch in her room.
"I'm going to miss you guys so much." She said with sadness apparent in her "it's not like your leaving forever." There was an awkward silence as my heart dropped. "why did u say only two weeks?" I say trying to hold back my tears. "I didn't want Ty to know. He would make some big deal and make me miss this place even more. Please don't tell him until after I leave." She pleaded.
I scoffed and left her house in anger. "Maya!" Ty yelled from his window. I stuck my finger into the air, ran into my house threw my bag on the couch and left back out.
I used my key to unlock the door to his house. I went straight up to his room trying not to end up in the middle of one of his parent's arguments. he was sitting at his desk which he only uses for home work because he feels anything else messes up his thinking. I walked up behind him and hugged his neck. We studied for a while then turned on "Friends with Benefits".
all of the sudden we heard glass break. we rushed into the kitchen where his mom just threw a glass plate onto the ground. They were screaming and yelling all the time I had gotten used to it but Ty still hasn't. It's like In his mind they're still happy and in love. Then he'd snap back into reality and it was very saddening.
I turned him around and covered his ears so he didn't see or hear what was going on. I walked him back up to his room without removing my hands. "What was it bout this time?" I said laying with him on his bed.
"my mom's pregnant by another man"
I blinked trying to let his words sink in. I usually know how to comfort him because I went through the same thing when my step mom and dad were getting divorced. But this time was different; my step mom slept around but she never got pregnant.
"I'm sorry do you want to be alone?"
He grabbed my hand and pulled me closer to him. His touch sent chills up my body as he wrapped his arm around me.
"stay with me."
As a person who's been left all my life I know how it feels to have that one person who would never leave. My person was Ty, and I was his.
If only this was real... uggghhh shut up! You are not allowed to like him. You can't do this to yourself again. Please don't ruin another great friendship with your stupid unwanted feelings.
The lights flicked on bringing me from my thoughts. "what's wrong?" I asked. "sorry I know the movie isn't over yet I just can't concentrate while they're screaming at each other."
"you wanna go to our spot?"
The door slammed as we got our shoes and jackets. I picked up my keys off the coffee table in the living room. "where are my keys?" he said searching the table and floor. "Your father took them when he left. Just ride the motorcycle."
My heart dropped. Oh how I hate that death machine. The last time we rode it to a party Ty got super drunk so I had to drive us home. I got a ticket for going 20 in a 50mph zone.
"Let's go."
Our spot is under a tree by the lake where we first kissed. Well it wasn't really a kiss but I like to think of it that way. When I was 5 and my step mom and dad were still together, they had an annual get together with the neighbors at the lake.
My step brother Jake chased me around the lake for an hour. when he finally caught up to me he grabbed me and tossed me into the lake like a luck penny. I hadn't learned how to swim yet so Ty hopped in and saved me from drowning.
While my dad did chest pumps Ty gave me mouth to mouth. I woke up as Ty placed his lips on mine. I spit water into face and ran to my dad.
We arrived at the lake a few short minutes later. He dropped me off and went to the corner store to get us snacks like usual. But this time he returned with a girl. "Maya, this is Brittiany. Brittiany, Maya." She gave me an innocent smile and stuck out my hand to shake it.
I wanna rip off your arm and wipe that smile off your face with it. Why the hell would he bring her to our spot?!?!
I looked at Ty then walked away. "hey where you going?" he yelled walking after me. "home" I hissed. "what? Why?" he asked stopping in front of me. "Chill with her I'll be fine I'll take the bus home." I walked around him and just in time the bus pulled up. We looked at each other through the window as the bus pulled off.
