Hayden's P.O.V
I hate fighting, it never settles anything. Maybe I shouldn't have called that sentence, I knew how much it would hurt Ashlyn; it was the last thing I wanted.
Alby threw the kidnappers in the pit for the rest of the day, this stupid trial shouldn't stop everyone's work.
"Clint." I called as the Gladers left the meeting. "Did you see where Ashlyn ran off to?"
"Last time I saw her she was walking towards the maze." He replied.
The Maze?! She's gone over to the maze?!
Before I could even think about anything else; I ran to the north door which was open. I reached the door and looked down at the long passage. She couldn't have? I warned her about the dangers of the maze, sure she wouldn't be so shuckin' stupid.
"What's wrong shank?" Alby asks as he emerges from behind me.
"The maze." I say, not daring to take my eyes of the passage. "I think Ashlyn's gone into the maze."
"What?" Alby exclaimed. "Don't be so bleedin' stupid."
"I'm not fricken' joking!" I yell.
"Well why'd she go down there?" He asks.
Then it hit me. I shouted at her, I didn't listen. She must think I hate her.
"Oh Alby." I say as I rub my temple. "I knew how sensitive she was and I shouted, I called that sentence when I knew it'll hurt her. I'm such a shuckface."
"Nah, you ain't a shuckface." Alby replies. "You're just a stinkin' shank."
"So what are we gonna do? She'll die out there!"
"She mightn't have even gone in there." Alby adds.
I feel like such a fool, I should have just listened to her. I never even got to tell her how I felt. I'm not really good at sharing my feelings but she's fricken worth it.
"She was right Alby." I confess. "I am the shuckiest shuck face there ever was."
"Don't beat yourself up." He adds.
This surge of panic then hits me, she said she couldn't live with a death on her conscience, but I could never live with her death on mine.
"I'm goin' in." I say before I could even think. I rush back to the homestead to get my harness.
"Hayden!" Alby shouts after me. He grabs my arm and pulls me back. "You lost your bleedin' mind?"
"Probably, yea." I continue as I reach the homestead. I head to my room and pull out my harness from under my mattress. I wondered if I'll ever use this again.
"Mate, you ain't thinking straight." Alby says in attempt to stop me.
"That's true; but I'm not having Ashlyn due due to my shouting at her." I reply as I leave my room and head towards the north wall door.
"Clint! Jeff! Gally! Newt! Someone stop this bleedin' lunatic!" Alby yells.
"I'm going in there after her!" I demand as I push past.

Gally and Clint come running from the bloodhouse.
"What you shoutin' about shank?" Asks Gally.
"This bleedin' madman is going on a suicide mission." Alby says as he pushes my shoulder back, preventing me from walking any further.
"I can do this." I demand. "She couldn't have gone far!"
"Hayden." Clint says calmly. "Mate, if she's gone into the maze then she's as good as dead anyway."
I felt every inch of me hurting, I was on the verge of tears but I wouldn't let them spill.
"I need to go in after her." I say as I stare at into the passage.
"You know what happened the last time you went in there." Gally says.
"This time is different." I spit.
"You ain't going in there Hayden!" Shouts Alby.
"YES, I AM!" I demand as I attempt to push past him.
"STOP IT HAYDEN!" Clint yells.
But I can't stop it, not till I know she's safe.
"JUST LET ME PASS!" I shout.
"STOP IT!"
"YOU'VE LOST YOUR BLEEDIN' MIND!"

Then I heard it. A voice so sweet it could melt butter.
"Hayden?"
