I found you
Hidden behind the white wisteria,
A curtain hanging from the live oak.You were alone, and sad,
Lost, and beautiful.
I saw none like you,
So I carried you gently,
Careful not to bruise
Your tender limbs.I brought you home and I fed you,
I supported you and I put you to rest.
When I awoke, there you were
Standing tall to greet the morning.I fed you again to appease you.
I sang hymns to make you happy,
And you kept smiling four days.I don't know what I said
Or did to make you sad,
Why your head fell, why you wept
And grew pale and lifeless. And when I could no longer bear
The sight of you,
When at last you assumed
The withered hues of death,
I coated you with hairspray
And tied you to my bedpost. My beautiful Daisy.
