A Neko Romace

Chapter 10

"Sorry, Neka. But, the boys just tried to... to.. mate with me.. Marq thankfully saved me, though. How are the babies?" I asked her. "Fine." She said, rolling over away from the tiny kitten children in her arms. The smaller boy began to mewl. Neka picked him and her daughter up.

"Kittens are so much harder to take care off." She said and looked down at the still mewling kittens. I nodded and smiled. "I'm going to sing them a lullaby, ok?" She said.

"I remember tears streaming down your face when I said I'd never let you go. When all the shadows almost killed your light. I remember you said don't leave me here alone. But all that's dead and gone and passed tonight... Just close your eyes, the sun is going down. You'll be alright. No one can hurt you now. Come morning light, you and I'll be safe and sound..." Neka had a soprano singing voice, which was lovely. Her kittens stopped moving and were now asleep.  

"You're a great singer." I complimented. She smiled at me. "Thanks." She said softly. She placed the tiny kittens into the bed between two pillows, then covered them. "Mommy and daddy..." She whispered softly, touching the pillows. "Why is daddy so busy all the time?" She sighed and looked at the floor.

"He's the next Alpha." I told her. And he's always saving me from his brothers. I added in my head. "Is it not an alpha's duty to put his mate first? Hm? I believe it is. I studied the wolf's code. That's the first law for an alpha..." She said, angrily.

"I think it's my fault. There's not much wrong, aside from his brothers mate problems with me. Maybe if I left..." I let the sentence trail. "IF YOU LEAVE I WILL HUNT YOU DOWN AND STAB YOU 7 MILLION TIMES!" She screamed and pinned me down.

"Then I'd be dead." I pointed out. "No, because I am magical." She said. Neka was obviously, since the family was royal, the next one in line to take the throne. "So, are you going to be queen and alpha- female, or just one?" I asked. "Both, I guess. Marq would be king." She sighed dreamily. "He'd look so handsome at the throne."

I smiled. "Yeah, whelp, I'm going to go... eat skittles and gummy bears." I said. "You will die of sugar rush." She said, glancing at me. I walked out of the room, only to hear Marq beating up his brothers. "Dude! We get it! Stop beating us!" Conner yelled. "Are you trying to pulverize us to a pulp?!" Max shouted, fear evident in his voice. Jake was just whimpering.

Maybe I should help them... I'm going to regret this, aren't I?

I walked in the room and they all stopped and saw me. "Marq, stop hurting them, please? Their wolves are just excited. They can't help it." I said to him. "They could if they got their testosterone under control." He growled and wiped blood from the corner of his mouth, his blood.

"Why are you bleeding?" I asked in alarm. My sister's mate was hurt, of course I was worried. "That idiot over there decided to punch me." He said and pointed to Jake. "And Max, I can and will pulverize you if you ever touch my mate's sister again. "  He added.

 "See? I'm the awesome one." Conner smirked. "You too, Conner. You freaking idiots." Marq cursed as more blood trickled from his mouth.

 "Neka! Marq's hurt!" I shouted. In a millisecond, she was by her mate, cooing over him like a mother would do to her child with a scraped knee. "My poor baby..." She cooed, stroking his hair. Marq was obviously enjoying himself. Neka led him out of the room.

Jake was still whimpering on the floor, while Max and Conner looked at me with lustful eyes. "You heard me!" I heard Marq yell from the hall. "Ugh..." Conner said. "So bossy." Max said. "HE'S YOUR ALPHA AND KING!" I yelled.

"Yeah, yeah. He's still our brother." Max said. I rolled my eyes and walked over to Jake who seemed the most hurt. I sat beside him and stroked his hair which caused him to stop whimpering so much. "Poor little Jakey." I sighed. "What about me?! I'm pretty sure he broke me in more than one way!" Max shouted. "I'm right here, you know?" Marq asked, walking in. He was wearing new clothes. A bright green, casual shirt, and some jeans.

I couldn't help but laugh. "Jake, if you get up right now, I'll kiss you." I told him. Immediately, Jake was up. I smiled and pecked him on his cheek. He whimpered and pouted. "You said you would kiss me." He siad. "I never said where." I pointed out. He stuck his tongue out at me.

I rolled my eyes and went to see Neka. She was pacing in her room. "What's wrong?" I asked. "Marq is always protecting you. How is he going to protect his kids? Me? How is he going to take care of the pack and the entire wolf world? After all, he is alpha and king. Maybe he should be your mate." She said and ran out of the room, leaving the entire building. I didn't no where she was going.

"Marq!" I called. He walked in casually. "Yep?" He asked. "Stop protecting me. If the boys... mate me, they mate me. You protect me so much, Neka thinks we should be mates. So, to settle everything, good-bye." I said and left into the woods. I heard Marq's heavy footsteps behind me. "Where are you going? If you leave, you KNOW Neka will kill EVERYONE she can get her paws on, that's NOT a good thing..."

I stopped and spun around to face him. "I'M the reason she's upset. I'M the one the boys are fighting over. If I leave, then you can go back to your old lives and forget all about me." I told him and took off at top speed, which was pretty fast. I learned a few things living with an abusive back.

The thing was, Marq was a Speed Runner, which means he was bred to run. His wolf was lean and fast, easily tackling me and sitting on my back. "Not moving till you agree to come back. AND PROMISE NOT TO LEAVE." His was so heavy... "Marq... I.. can't... b-breathe..." I barely wheezed out. "PROMISE. "He growled in his alpha tone, letting up a little of his weight.

"I'm not part of the pack, so your alpha tone has no effect on me." I told him. "Do you want all your limbs broken, missy?" His eyes not completely red and glowing, I was horrified. Maybe he used this trick on his brothers...

"You can do whatever you want. I'm not going back. Marq, it's what's best for everyone. Your brothers will calm down, Neka and you can live happily ever after, and I won't be in anybody's lives anymore. Those are ALL good things." I explained to him. "I will sit here forever if I have too. Besides that, Neka is still having a hormonal imbalance. She loves you. Alright? She'll probably start cutting like she used to-" He slapped a paw over his muzzle. "WHAT?" I yelled, realizing my sister used to cut. "I wasn't supposed to say that..." He said.

"Oh..." I said. He got off me and started crying. "I can't let her do that again... She almost died before, I found her and I got blamed. I can't let that happen... Please... You have to help her..." He said, covering his face. I sighed. "Marq, don't... just... Fine, but you better not be making this up." I said and went back into the house.

Neka snuggled me when I opened the door. "Marq told me what you said. Through the mate link." She sobbed. "What?" I asked, a little confused. "He wasn't lying when he said I used to cut myself..." She said sadly. I hugged her. "I'm sorry I tried to run away." I whispered. "It's okay." She said and hugged me, afterwards, she began kneeding my leg.

"Lena?" A voice said. I turned my head to find Jake standing there  looking like a puppy with his tail between his legs. "Yes?" I asked. "I'm sorry." He said and kissed my cheek softly. "Jake, I'm not mad at you. I'm just afraid of your brothers. You seem to have more control than them." I told him. "Yeah... And then there's just Marq.." He said.
