Okay, before I start off this chapter I'd just like to say one thing. This book is sad. I'm sure you've noticed, and it is intended to be sad. Now, if you don't like sad stories, I'm just going to tell you now-you do not have to read this book. No matter if you know me in real life, or if you don't, if you don't want to read one of my books or you don't like it, please don't read it. I have a much happier story that I plan to outline and write to upload here after this story is completed, and you can read that if you wish.
Another thing; I upload when I wish to upload. If you think I update too slow, or too fast, it really doesn't matter because this is my story, and I plan to update when I wish to update it. Please don't yell for sooner updates, or complain that I'm annoying you with updates. You don't have to read it. Thank you guys, and I really do hope you're enjoying this story.
Ghost blinked his eyes open, grunting as he slowly woke up. He glanced around, becoming more aware of his surroundings-and more importantly, more aware of the arms wrapped around him.
He remembered everything that had happened last night, but he had honestly thought Toast would have left after a while. Though, here he was, lying behind Ghost with his arms wrapped tightly around his waist, fast asleep.
Ghost contemplated waking him, wondering if he should or not, as his thoughts began to drift to other things. He thought about everything that had happened yesterday-and everything that had happened in the last five months altogether. So much had happened, and the months seemed to all blur together. It seemed to have passed by quickly, but slowly all at the same time.
Ghost couldn't help it as his thoughts drifted back to when Toast had been drunk, and the things he had said. Mostly when he had said it back to him, told him that he loved Ghost. He knew it was certainly not in the same way Ghost loved him; how could it be? Toast had only ever loved Trudy, and she was a girl. He wouldn't fall for a guy, and much less his friend and partner Johnny Ghost.
There wasn't much there to love, Ghost thought. He was a boring guy who worked a really crappy job and couldn't get over someone who was already in a relationship. Then Toast showed up at his doorstep, heartbroken and crying, and things had changed completely. Still though, Ghost knew he was still boring, and not very lovable.
A tired mumble brought Ghost away from his sad thoughts, and he froze, looking back at Toast. He was not awake, like Ghost had originally thought, but rather was mumbling things in his sleep, looking distressed.
Toast mumbled something else, and he sounded absolutely terrified. He must be having a nightmare, Ghost thought, though he was unsure of what he should do.
Toast mumbled something else, pulling Ghost even closer to him, which made him blush, while Toast faced him with fear on his features.
Ghost was just about to try and wake him, when Toast finally screamed.
"I love you!" He shouted, Ghost's eyes widening in surprise at him. Toast's own eyes shot open, jumping away from Ghost and letting go of him.
Immediately, Ghost missed the feelings of Toast's arms wrapped around him, but that was soon forgotten as Toast wiped at his eyes, muttering an apology to Ghost.
"I'm sorry sir, I didn't mean to jump like that. I didn't wake you, did I?" He questioned, trying to put on a smile to mask the tear Ghost had seen him wipe away.
"You didn't.. What's wrong, Johnny? Don't pretend it's nothing.. You can talk to me." Ghost frowned, looking at Toast, who knew he wouldn't be able to get out of answering him.
"It was just.. A nightmare. That's all." Toast muttered, then offered a small smile to Ghost. "But really, I'm okay. Just a bad dream is all."
Ghost frowned deeper, but only gave a nod in reply, deciding it was best not to question him more about it.
