Ch. 4: Pokémon Partners

After the introductions, Professor Rowan set them on a table located nearby for the three of us to choose.

Volker slightly pushed Natsume forward to start pick one. For her, being nervous decided to pace back and forth until one pokéball begins to shake at least twice before a penguin figure appears.

'Piplup'

Sooner than expected, a penguin jumps into Natsume's arms as if the pokemon wants to be partners.

"Did my eyes deceive me? That penguin stuffed Pokemon picked my sister as it's partner?!" Volker sound astonished.

With a small response from Riley, "you know that Pokemon also have feelings and emotions too" with that comment, it was his turn to choose a Turtwig or Chimchar.

But Riley with a generous heart, he turned around and told Volker to decide his partner before himself.

Professor Rowan expression is impressed of how Riley's personality is very well-mannered compared to other trainers he came across with.

Everyone knows that trainers are same and different in their own ways.

Volker took steps and grabbed a pokeball which contains Chimchar so that leaves Turtwig to Riley. As the story goes, one just has to do a practice battle with their newly earned Pokemon from professor.

"Hey sis, let's battle! You and me. Chimchar against Piplup!"

"I-I don't know...I guess we can.." her voice sounds lower than usual.

"Volker, you shouldn't jump to a battle too quickly!" Riley said.

"It's fine, Riley. I want to see how a real Pokemon battle works" Natsume whispers enough for everyone to hear.

Professor clears throat to grab our attention before making rash decisions. He gave us 5 empty pokéballs along with a pokédex which records any Pokemon we encounter or catch.

"Before you set out on your very own journey, I want to say this is my dream to find out more about Pokemon evolution and the research."

"Professor Rowan, I-- well I mean all three of us will achieve this dream for you. Thank you for giving us a chance." Riley smiled then bowed.

Volker runs inside the house to gather belongings for his start of adventure. He grabs his backpack and puts all the necessities for the grand opening of his new chapter.

Natsume, on the other hand, she goes to tell mother the good news of a sudden change of pace. Riley continues to grow an interest of how Pokemon live in different parts of the world.

"I'm off to the next town! So see ya guys later!" Volker took off like a bullet before anyone could say something.

"Riley and Natsume, would you do me a small favor?" mother offers them a Town Map. "Can you give one to Volker when either of your see him? I'm afraid he would get lost without one"

Riley nods his head and goes on his way. Our mother sheds some tears of how much we've grown up since we were children.

"Volker with Chimchar. Riley with Turtwig and Natsume with Piplup"

Professor Rowan gathers his belongings before heading off back to his laboratory. He smiles at the kids who can change people's way of thinking.

"HAVE A SAFE ADVENTURE! COME BACK HOME IF YOU FEEL HOMESICK!" mother shouts at two fine young teenagers who are no longer children.
