CHAPTER 6:

SETTLING IN... SORT OF

My feet hit the floor just before the rest of my body does. I roll over onto my back groaning. I hear laughter all around me. I feel hands lift me up and I realize with surprise that my eyes are scrunched shut. I don't even remember closing them. I open them up reluctantly and I observe my surroundings. People everywhere. It looks as if we were in the main room. I feel someone come to my side and I see Hunter and Kiara holding me up with Caiden checking to see if I got any injuries. I hear Cindy and Chase talking to someone in the background but I bring my attention to the people holding me. "Kiana, are you okay?" Hunter asks. I nod slightly. "How come you guys aren't dizzy or anything?" I ask. They laugh, "Because we are used to teleporting, this was your first time". Kiana explains. I feel so stupid. There are so many people in this chamber and they're all looking at me trying hard not to laugh. I glare at the all and open my mouth to yell at them but I feel Hunters hand come across my mouth. He leans down and whispers in my ear. "Do not yell at them, they are part of the royal household". Ok so don't yell at them I say in my mind. I nod to Hunter showing him I understand. He takes his hand off my mouth and I shrug off everyone else's hands as well. "I can stand now". I say, they all nod and move away. Then two people walk up to me, a woman and a man. They smile warmly. "You are most welcome to stay here". Then they walk off. I look after the dumbly. That's it? Cindy hurries to my side. "Come on kids, let's go to our rooms, I've arranged everything with the King and Queen". Chase grabs Kiara's hand and walks her up the closest staircase. I go to move after them but Cindy stops me. "Sorry Kiana, but there is only so many rooms in this part of the building, you will have to room on the other side".

"What? Why? I thought this was a palace or something, why doesn't it have more rooms, and why can't I stay with Kiara?" I ask confused.

"I'm sorry Kiana, this isn't the main palace and a lot of people live here, I don't trust the boys living on their own and Kiara will want to stay with Chase". Cindy explains. I feel sick, I'm already so lost and now I have to be isolated from them. "Which way do I go?" I ask. Cindy points at the staircase on the other side of the huge hall. Hunter grabs my hand. "I will take you, I have been here before, and I know the way". Caiden leaps on my other side.

"I will come too". Hunter looks at him suspiciously and then nods reluctantly. I wonder what's going on between them two. We make our way up the stairs and for about 10 minutes in silence. I feel so awkward between them. "So why aren't you guys doing you're creepy little talking together thing?" I ask. Hunter and Caiden turn to me in amusement. "Out creepy little talking together thing?" Hunter asks smirking. I flush red in embarrassment. "You know what I mean". I say.

"We only do that when we are happy with each other". Caiden says. I turn to him.

"So you're not happy with each other?" I ask confused.

"Not 100% happy". Hunter says. I turned back to him.

"Why not?" I want answers.

"Because we can't take the competition". Caiden says. I look at them blankly.

"Competition?"

"Competition for you". They stop walking and open a door. They open it and gesture for me to enter. I walk in a turn back to them. "What is that meant to mean?" They are so confusing. But all they do is smile at me and close the door. I stay there looking at the door for a bit in shock. Do they mean what I think they mean? I turn to face the room. It's nicely set up with a bathroom attached. Suddenly I feel that same dizziness as before hit me. I groan and stumble to the bed collapsing when I get there. I feel sick. I close my eyes tightly and let myself drift off.

In the morning I wake up to someone jumping on my bed. "Come on sis, get up". I open my eyes to see Kiara bouncing everywhere. I move my foot underneath her and trip her up, she slowly topples off the bed but she doesn't hit the floor, instead she stops about 1 cm away from the floor. I can feel the wind blowing as she directs the air to carry her back onto the bed. She glares at me. "You really want to kill your own sister?" She asks sarcastically. I laugh.

"Damn straight". She playfully growls and suddenly I'm hanging upside down on the ceiling the wind holding me there. She grins t me victoriously. "Now who's in danger?" she asks. I laugh.

"You". I say and suddenly she's in the air next to me hanging also upside down except with a vine around her ankle. A newly grown tree sat in the corner of the room. I smile at her. She laughs at me. "Great now we are both doomed to stay here for the rest of our lives", I joke. She laughs again in reply. Suddenly the door opens. "What the he... "

"Language", I call. Cutting off the person. I hear the person laugh in hysterics.

"You... guys are so.... Weird...and so... stupid". The person says in laughing breaks. I twist my head to see a guy standing there that I had never met before. "I don't think you really have a right to say that to us since you don't know us. Who are you?" Kiara asks. The guy walks around so we are facing him.

"My name is Alec. I'm the prince".

"Oh... well hi then, I guess and what are you doing here exactly?" I ask. He smiles.

"I was told to greet you since I wasn't there yesterday, I could have waited till breakfast but I wanted to meet one of the powerful element twins. I didn't count on finding both of you, and upside down". He was smirking with laughter. I completely forgot we were still in the air. I quickly released Kiara and she fell onto the bed in shock. "Oww", she whined. I laughed

"Quit complaining and let me down", I demanded. She grinned wickedly.

"I don't think so", she said.

"What? Why? I let you down". I say

"I'm not as nice as you though". She says in a little innocent voice.

"Kiara, I will hurt you so bad if you don't let me down". She just laughs.

"Talk about sibling love". Alec says. I turn to him and glare.

"Can't you threaten to lock her up if she doesn't let me down?" I ask seriously

"Nope, this is too entertaining". I growl at him. Suddenly the door opens again and Hunter and Caiden burst through the door shoving each other and trying to fight their way in first. They stop still when they see the situation. "Umm... what going on here?" Hunter asks.

"Why is Kiana hanging upside down up there?" Caiden adds.

"How did you know it was me up here"? I ask, don't me and Kiara look the same?

"You smell different", three voice say in unison. Alec, Hunter and Caiden. I vaguely remember Chase saying the same thing when I first met him. Suddenly I got frustrated. "CAN SOMEBODY LET ME DOWN!?" I yell loudly making everyone jump. Unexpectedly I fall to the floor but I land in Alec's arms. I jump down. "Thanks", I mumble. Hunter and Caiden glare at Alec. I look at them all,

"Shall we go to breakfast" Kiara pipes up. Se runs to the door and opens it for us.

"Uhh... sure". Caiden says. Hunter is still glaring at Alec.

"What's going on here"? Chases voice comes fro the doorway. Kiara squeals and jumps into him, hugging him. He gasps in surprise and without waiting for an answer he picks her up and carried her out. I glance at Alec, Hunter and Caiden. Well this is awkward. "We should go", I mumble and practically run out the door listening as the others follow me silently.
