1. humble home

I'm walking home from school and all I can say was that it fucking sucked. I mean it was the same as it is everyday, and by that I mean sitting in the back of the classroom alone. But, what I was in store for at home was even worse.

"Where you been you little whore," my drunken of a father slurred to me.

"I was at school, you ass whole," I said whispering that last part to myself. But, me being my unfortunate self, the fucker heard me.

"What did you say you son of a bitch," He yelled at me. He threw the first punch of the evening, and so forth went my evening beating.

I walked upstairs as my father slammed the door, on his way out of our house. He was probably either going to the bar or to some ladies' house, for god knows what reason. I walked into my room, grabbed some clothes, and walked into the bathroom to take a shower.

After I undressed, I stood in front of the mirror observing the bruises my father had left. I sighed in sadness knowing there was no way out of this hell. I stepped into the shower and just stood there for awhile, letting the water slip down my body.

Once I showered, I played some music on my phone and walked downstairs to get some food. I opened the fridge and all I saw that was edible, was some left over soup. I took it out and put it in the microwave to warm it up. Once it was done, I sat down to eat it and began texting my best friend Maddy.

M- hey, guuurrll what's happenin'

T- nothing much just eating some soup

M- Thal, you literally have thee most boring life. You need to get out and have some fun!

T- I'm very happy in my tiny room at my house

M- come on let's go out tomorrow night, please. I heard tomorrow is your last day of school anyway.

T- ugh fine we can go out tomorrow night. but, I'll only go because of you

M- yay! Girl, you are the best. Okay I'll pick you up tomorrow after school. Goodnight, lovez youz

T- Goodnight, I lovez youz too, girl

I put the bowl from the soup in the sink and walked upstairs. I collapsed on my bed after I turned the lights off. I started to think about how tomorrow was the last day of school and it would finally be summer. As I thought about that, I slowly started to drift into a dreamless sleep.

I woke up to the sound the alarm clock on my phone going off. I got up without hesitation knowing it was the last day of school and then soon realized also came the long summer of beatings. I've gotten use to them so it's not as bad anymore. There was a time though when my father beat me so bad, I ended up in the emergency room. My father told the doctor that I fell down the stairs and he found me when he got home from work.

After I was done getting ready, I immediately grab my bag and quietly walked out of the house, leaving for school.

(Skipping the school day)

I ran out of the school seeing Maddy inside her car, waiting.

"Hey girl hey," Maddy said being her crazy weird self.

"Hey Mads," I replied as I got into her car.

"So the plan today we go shopping at the mall for an outfit for you and I to wear at the party and we'll get ready at my house," Maddy said

"Wait! Hold up we're going to a party?" I questioned.

"Yeah, did I not mention that?" she said sheepishly.

"No, you did not mention that," I said.

"But, we can still go right?" Maddy asked nervously.

"Yes, now lets go shopping," I said.

"Woohoo," Maddy yelled as we drove off.

Maddy and I arrived back at her house, we went upstairs to her room carrying our bags. We both collapsed on Maddy's bed, exhausted from our shopping trip. We both settled on taking a little nap before the party, considering it was 4:00 pm and the party didn't start till 9:00 pm.

Maddy fell asleep before me, but I fell asleep soon after hoping tonight goes okay...

A/N: Hey guys, I hope you enjoyed the first part of my story. This was a pretty fun chapter to write. Total word count: 985

But a little back story of both Thalia and Maddy.

Thalia- Her mother died when she was six yeas old from cancer and after her mother's death her father became an alcoholic. When she was twelve( she is now currently seventeen) her father first began beating her. As I mentioned earlier about the worst beating she had, that had occurred when she was fifteen. While she was in the hospital, she met Maddy who was visiting a friend who broke his leg while skateboarding. Maddy and Thalia hit it off and Maddy began visiting Thalia everyday when she was in the hospital and stayed in touch afterwards. Thalia's father does not know that Thalia and Maddy are friends or that she has any friends for that matter.

Maddy- Maddy dropped out of high school when she was fourteen. She lived with some friends, considering she's an orphan. Her parents left her to live the gambling life in Las Vegas, Nevada when she was eleven. She got a job being a waitress working at a local cafe called Quaite, she now lives on her own. Maddy likes to party and tries to get Thalia to join, but Thalia likes to stay alone at home.
