"Sammy it's not your fault, I was trying to protect you guys, like you were trying to protect me and the baby."
"I love you so much Y/N.."
You smile and reply
"I love you too"
1 year later...
Tyler has grown up calling you mommy and today is his 1st birthday. It was a mustache and bowtie themed birthday. You walked upstairs into Sammy's room and noticed him sitting with his head in his hands.
"What's wrong Sam?" you ask him
"Nothing.. I was just thinking about Hillary. She won't be able to see Ty grow up ya know?"
You walk over and hug him "She's in a better place Sam. It was too tough for her on this earth, God wanted her to come home a little early to watch over her. She will be waiting for you and Tyler.. I am gonna go get him dressed.. holler if you need me." you were a little upset, but you brushed it off.
You walked into Tyler's room to be greeted by the little boy sitting down in his crib (A/N: Do 1 year olds sleep in cribs? Whatever let's just go with it yea?) talking to himself, waiting for someone to come and save him.
"Mama! Help!" he calls out to you standing up, reaching his arms out towards you. You chuckle and pick him up.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY BIG BOY!" You rush over to him and attack him with kisses and hugs. "Daddy is pretty sad, why don't you go cheer him up while I make some eat eats for the birthday boy. (A/N: that's what my little brother calls it LOL)" you tell him putting him on the ground as he totters towards his fathers room.
You make sure he makes it in alright and start to walk downstairs to get him some breakfast. After making pancakes, bacon, eggs, etc. you call everyone to breakfast. When everyone gets situated at the table you start to help Tyler with his food.
"Tank yew mommy!" he tells you
"You're welcome birthday boy!" you chuckle.
Sammy hasn't said anything to you this whole time and continues to eat in silence. You glance at him every once and a while, but you remained engaged in Tyler's conversation. When breakfast was over, you laid Ty down for a nap so he would be awake for his birthday party. You made it downstairs and started to decorate the house in silence, Sammy sitting on the couch messing around on his phone. You were fed up at this point.
"Sammy you need to get up and do something. I understand you are upset, but it is time to stop mourning over it. Would you want her to see you this way.. I know we aren't in an exclusive relationship, we are still sleeping in separate rooms for the most part. But you said you loved me. I still have feelings for you but you are still caught up in Hillary, so much as to where you can't move on to someone who loves you a lot more." you look over at him and he is still looking at his phone.
At this point you were finished. You walked over to him and snatched the phone from him and said "It is your sons 1st birthday and you have yet to do anything now get your ass up and put some decorations up and watch your son. I need to go pick up these cookies." You yell at him as he is protesting for his phone back so much that you just threw it against the wall and walked out of the house.
You got into your car and drove to the bakery to pick up the mustache and bowtie cookies you'd ordered for Ty's birthday party

After picking them up, you went back home to see that Sammy had went out and bought a new phone. You didn't even say anything as you went upstairs to get Tyler dressed. Soon after the guests started to arrive and they marveled over your decorating skills.

You went the whole party without running into Sammy and you were happy about it. At the end of the night, you got Tyler ready for bed and you gave him a kiss goodnight and went to your room to pack a suitcase. You weren't going to stay here with someone who doesn't want you there. You packed most of your clothes and put the bags in the car. You wanted to leave quietly since the baby was asleep. So you wrote a note that said:
"Sammy it is clear that I am not wanted here with you. You still want Hillary, but I'm sorry she's not coming back, she is here in spirit though. I will still be around for Tyler's sake. Love you -Y/N"
You placed the note on his bedside table on top of his phone and left.
The Next Day...
You woke up in a hotel room with your phone ringing.
"Hello?" you answered
"Y/N please come hom-" Sammy replied
"Does it have to do with Tyler" you interrupted
"Yes! He won't stop crying for you. He wants you Y/N"
"I'm only coming to get him to calm down. I won't be staying there with you, so after I calm him down I am going to get the rest of my things and leave." you hang up and get dressed.
When you pull up to Sammy's house, you can hear Tyler's cries from outside so you rush in.
"MAMA MAMA MAMA!" he cries
You run into his room and take him from Sammy and cradle him in your arms.
"Mama's here.. Mama's here." you tell him as he starts to quiet down as he clings to you not letting you go.
Sammy stands there with tears in his eyes. He feels like a terrible person and parent. He walks out of Tyler's room and into his own. You notice and try to put the sniffling baby down, but he just grips your shirt tighter, so you just carry him with you into Sammy's room.
"What's wrong Sam-"
"I'm sorry. I know she's not coming back. I feel like a terrible parent. My own son doesn't even like me" he cries out.'
"Sammy he does like you. He loves you actually! You're his role model, you don't see, but everything you do he tries to mock you." you reassure him.
"Y/N I do really love you. With all that I have honestly. You have really been there for me through all of this. I need you here I'm deeply in love with you baby please. I know it's going to take time for me to completely get over Hill, but I'm willing to try if you are." He says looking down at his feet
"I will try Sammy.. we will get through together. And I love you too" you smile and sit next to him.
He leans in to kiss you but Tyler sits up and pushes his head away and says,
"My mommy.." and lays back on your chest falling asleep.
You both start to laugh and Sammy grabs your hand kissing it instead.
