Yato's pov

It's late, very late but I'm winning. Every person I got out brings me a step closer to being near Hiyori more often. It's just me against her and she's flustered.

"It no use Hiyori I've got hotels and houses set up. You might as well just start helping me order a uniform."

Her face registers a faint redness. Its cute really she's determined to win somehow.

Yukine who is sitting next to me sighs and yawns.

"Can you guys hurry up, I wanna go to bed."
We can just sleep down here we did built a fort after all."

Before we started the game I decided that our butts would hurt after sitting on the floor for too long, so I built a fort with a bunch of blankets and pillows. Kofuku and Daikoku were impressed. Even Daikoku's large broad shouldered body could fit comfortably in the fort. But they lost hours ago and are upstairs asleep. Hiyori blinks tiredly. I chew the candy she gave me in anticipation of her forfeit. She sighs.

"I'll need your size, and a fake last name."

I smile.

"So I finally won huh? Don't worry Hiyori I won't annoy you too much. I don't get many jobs so I'm just gonna advertise a bit. When I start to get to many I'll fake a going away story."

"What about your father? I don't want you to leave as long as he's there."

My eyes widen, she actually wants me there.

"We'll protect you whether we go to the school or not, right Yukine?"

Yukine gives a tired groan.

"Yeah Hiyori we love you a lot."

That would have sounded sincere coming from Yukine's mouth only he more mumbled it sleepily then said it out loud.

I get up and turn off the lights and turn on the star projector I got Yukine with my own money. I lay between Yukine and Hiyori. Hiyori is still awake like me. Yukine is fast asleep curled in a ball which makes me scoot closer to Hiyori.

"Yato?"
"Yeah?" I reply to Hiyori's voice

"Do you really love us?"

"Of course I do. We have a family of our own, the three of us."

"Do you have anything you regret?"

Nora pops into my head. I regret everything I've done to her I should have done my best to protect her from father. Now he's brainwashed her.

"I regret Nora."

"Why?" Hiyori turns her body to me.

"You know how big brothers protect their little sisters?"

"Yeah?"
"Well I'm kinda like Nora's big brother whether I like it or not. Sometimes father beats her, you can tell. She doesn't know any better, so she keeps going back to him. The only reason she's a Nora is because father has given her to many masters. She can't protect herself or bring herself to retaliate against him."

"Why?"

I know Hiyori must know the truth.

"Because she knows he'll willingly reveal a god's greatest secret. Hiyori, Nora is still human. It may not seem like it but she died at a very young age. She was fresh from death when father found her. She was about nine."

"Nine? But she looks like she's the same age as Yukine!"

"There is a spell that can make young regalia grow I don't wanna use it on Yukine because it would be very painful. Nora would look older except for the fact that it was much to painful for her to go any farther with the spell so her mind and body stopped at 14 maybe 15 years old. Another reason I don't want Yukine to grow taller is because he might grow bigger than me and beat me up."

Hiyori giggles. She turns on her back facing up again. I guess it's my turn to ask her a question now.

"Hiyori, about last Friday... um what was that?"

Its quiet for a while. I turn my head to see if Hiyori is still awake, she still is.

"I- I was thinking about how I don't spend enough time with you alone. So I... I just kinda... its just that I never make more of an effort to spend time with you. And I know you probably want my attention alone sometimes so... so that was me giving you my... my full undivided attention. Or me making a promise to spend more time with you."

I have no idea what to say. I do know that my cheeks are about to catch fire though. To be truthful even though most of my regalia have been women, I still don't know how to deal with women I like or really care for. Probably terrible for someone who's 1000 years old huh? Usually any crush I have on someone ends up badly. So I end up getting my heart broken or rejected. I remember having a crush on this one girl who was the emperor's daughter. I was the war god he called to deal with outsiders. I dealt with them and they showed their thanks. But his daughter was the one who never really forgot me, now that I think about it she had a balance between the far and near shore like Hiyori. Only she didn't have a cord like Hiyori. Her spirit was connected to her long hair. I only realized that much too late. It wasn't just a regular hair cut she got. A  phantom caught her when she was out of her body and she died.

Tragic huh? Hiyori is the only girl I really like that hasn't died, forgotten me or been snatched by some other guy. I guess this is the first one to go well for me.

"Hiyori?" I break the silence.

"Yeah Yato?"

"I'm gonna make you a promise."

"Yeah?"

"I will promise that... that even if things go bad between you and me... I'll always find a way to get you back." I await her answer.

"I like that promise Yato. I promise to do the same for you."

I smile. I turn my head toward her and extend my left pinkie. Hiyori looks at me and locks her pinkie with mine.

"Good night Yato."

"Good night Hiyori."

Another Narrator's note: Now what is about to happen is going to be bittersweet. There will be gasps and instances of gripping the edge of your seats. I can't promise there will be many survivors. I can't even promise that the surrounding continents and  countries will avoid this fight. Heck I can't even guarantee that America will survive. I can only say that it will end in the uprising of Heaven, Olympus, and the Duat. There will be later consequences. God help us all.
