Blessing

My eyes flutter open as a big yawn escapes me. A smile finds my lips when the first thing that meets my vision is my husband sleeping peacefully beside me. My heart warms at the sight.

I reach out to touch his cheek, a habit of mine. It's become routine ever since we got married. Sometimes I'd wake him up on accident. Other days he'd stay asleep, like today.

He asks why I do it, but I could never really explain to him without feeling silly. Truth is, sometimes I can't believe he's really there. Because how on earth did I get so lucky? Why me?

Most of the time I feel like I'm living a fantasy. So every morning when I wake up, I have to make sure I'm not still dreaming.

I sigh, my thumb tracing softly over the smooth skin of Will's cheek. "I love you," I whisper, leaning in to press a kiss to his nose.

I stared at him some more. He slept on the side of the bed that was facing our bedroom window. In the mornings the natural lighting was exceptionally bright. There always seemed to be a halo around Will as he slept. A ring of sunshine out lining his figure. He looked angelic. A blessing in disguise as a beautiful man; a man I get to call mine.

I finally worked up the will to get out of bed, and made my way downstairs after brushing my teeth. I didn't bother getting dressed because I planned on staying home, meaning I wore nothing but a tank top and underwear as I waltzed into the kitchen.

Humming a little tune that I'd heard Will singing a few days ago, I opened up the fridge to gather things to make for breakfast.

Another twenty minutes passed before I heard footsteps coming down the stairs.

"Ooh," I heard the sweet voice of my husband as he made his appearance in the kitchen. He gave me a once over before one corner of his lips turned up into a half smile. "It's days like these I wish we would have gotten married sooner. I was missing out," he says wrapping me in his arms from behind.

I laugh. "Likewise," I say, referring to his attire which consisted of only a pair of boxer briefs.

We ate breakfast together, took a walk afterwards, then lounged around the house for the rest of the day. Will wrote a few songs while I caught up on some reading. For dinner I tried to cook a recipe I saw on Pinterest last week. Will thought he could help but ended up burning it, and we ordered take-out instead.

It was dark out now. We were sitting in the living room with the tv playing, but neither of us were paying attention to it.

Will's head was laid on my lap as he scrolled through his Twitter. I caressed him softly, running my hands through his hair. Suddenly, he looked up at me, putting his phone down. "You know what's cool?" He asked.

"What?" I looked down at him. My insides fluttered as I met his warm brown eyes staring at me intently.

"I got to marry my first love," he flashed a giddy smile at me. "I'm so lucky."

I giggled, lowering my lips to meet his forehead. "You're too cute to handle, William."

He laughed, putting his phone down, snuggling into me and closing his eyes. I kept my gaze on him, continuing to run my fingers through his hair. As I stared at him I couldn't help but dwell on what he had said.

Unlike Will, I had loved before. Now though, thinking about how I felt about him made the others seem as if they weren't love at all.

I smiled, letting my thumb trace across his forehead, down around his eyes, and then down to his cheek. My favorite spot. He thinks he's lucky, but if anyone here is lucky, it's me. Because I had found the love of my life. I had stolen the heart of Will Jay Behlendorf. That was something others could only dream of, and I had actually done it.

I felt Will drift off to sleep, so I leant over as much as I could to kiss his forehead. "I love you."

A/N: Just a blurb. Short & sweet. I feel this is very accurate though. William is a blessing.  (haven't exactly gotten him to marry me yet, but a blessing nonetheless)
