"Fine...who's Jane?" I asked because I was too afraid to disobey him. He got off of me and sat in a chair next to my bed. He reminded me of a father telling their child a bedtime story, except he looked like something that came to life from your worst nightmare. In this case he IS my worst nightmare, it's hard to believe he was once my sweetest dream.
"Well my dear, Jane was my first victim. She was my neighbor before all of this happened. I brutally murdered her family but unfortunately she lived. She didn't even turn me in, instead she vowed to find me and kill me. At the time I killed her family she was only thirteen years old, now she's sixteen and extremely vengeful. What she doesn't know is I've been following her lately and she's coming here tonight...to get you.
"What the hell does she want with me?!?"
"She wants to strike at the closest thing to my black heart just as I did to her. I burnt her like they burnt me...I killed her family as I did to mine. Now she's out for the one thing I love, you. You know, the whole cat a mouse game. I get her, she gets me, until finally the game ends in death."
As he told me this his time gave off a feeling of remorse and I felt a slight but of sympathy. Does he actually still love me? Or is it a front put up by this psychopath.
We both jumped at the sound of glass shattering downstairs.
"It's Jane, she finally arrived. Now you kill her or I kill you, simple and easy. Let the games begin."
Chills went down my spine as he whispered to me. I can't murder someone who has nothing to do with me. Come on Mary you can't murder someone period! I might be able to escape while the battle it out.
I walked close behind Jeff as we went down the stairs. When we reached the bottom of the stairs I grabbed onto his back for protection but quickly let go once I remembered who he had become.
