He groaned and rubbed his head. What a fall. His unlit cigar smelt sweet like vanilla and his dark brown jacket could have been better. It had seen better days, been in great fights, and he didn't want to retire his old friend. "Ah. And no lighter either. Well Limbo, " he screamed, " if you want to make me happy get me a lighter that works!" Only the cities dieing lights and sleeping cars responded. "This isn't funny!"
He stopped yelling finnaly after his voice had grown horse. He grumbled and walked the streets strange ground. The sidewalk scratched onto black platforms, it's cracks were caked with weeds and rubble.
It looked like it was going to snow soon, the sky's were already an ashy grey. If he was human the chill in the air would be obvious, along with the crisp sent of snow and pollution. "Oh. Hello there, are you lost?" Blackblood looked towards the noise of a small bean pole of a man. He wore a red bennie and was bundled in many jackets, along with a plaid scarf. "Uh." He was frightened by the towering Blackblood, and he shook from the cold wind. "Do you understand me?" Blackblood stepped forward a little bit, his hands still deep in his pockets.
"I understand you perfectly, I'm just a little confused by you kid." His eyes lit up with joy, and a slight smile crept across his face. "Sorry. Do you want coffee or anything? " Blackblood stood up taller, straighting his jacket more and tryed to smile to comfort the man some. "Sure kid. Sounds nice." He checked his pockets and shivered like crazy. "Let's go. I'm Reed by the way. It's nice to meet you." He sighed and tryed to light his cigar. "Hmm? I'm Blackblood kid. What were you doing out here anyways?"
Reed gleefully walked ahead, leading him to a small cafe. "I was going to work. I start the mornings and my little sister takes over the rest." He nodded, groaning slightly as he had to duck into the doorway. His spikes clawed the frame and he felt horrible. "I'll pay for you drink, alright?"
It was kind of an honor, besides watching his sister glare at him from behind the counter. "Reed, who's this girl?" His sister walked close to him, "Reed! Are you serious? He's a titan, and just look at-"
"I can hear you. I'm trying to be nice and besides I would thank your brother." She looked conflicted, grabbing Reed by the back of his shirt and dragging him into the kitchen.
"He's terrifying!" She screamed at Reed. " Sarah, he's friendly and helpful. When was the last time we ever came this close to serving a-"
"Reed no. Besides, how are we sure that he's the one?"
Blackblood drumed his fingers on the counter, and started to drift asleep. The siblings were agueing in the kitchen, fear not hidden in Sarah ' s voice and posture. Reed gave him his cup of coffee, glancing back at Sarah every now and then. "She scared because of last time." He snapped himself awake and sipped the black roast down. "What happened last time kid?" He nervously sat down at the table, holding his shoulders and looking away. "A.... monster came in here... it took our parents life's and..." He froze. Sarah rung the bell, and Reed joined her. Blackblood just sat in semi silence, listening in on the buzz of the morning. Small familes of two or three would come and go, but he always seemed to be by himself. "Alright Reed, thanks for the coffee. " He ran to the door stopping Blackblood, "Wait! Where are you going?" Sarah looked releved, "Thanks for coming. Come on Reed we have work to do." Blackblood stepped forward and out onto the streets, he would definitely have to come back to hear more.
