^Uncle Gabriel Aka the "bogeyman"^

**Rian POV**
I breathe out another sigh of frustration as the amber colored solution boils over the hot plate and fizzes out onto the laboratory's counter below. "Damn it!" I shout out. Growling, I jerk the hot plate's electrical cord out of the wall's socket. "Rian, you need to take a break" Sasha said lowly.

I shake my head in frustration and whimper as tears fills my eyes. I can't afford to take a break! This was the fourth time the solution failed on me! All of those babies lost to some unknown virus. No I have to keep working to find a vaccine or cure or...damn! Sasha sighs in my head and shakes her head, "You aren't going to figure anything out being frustrated like this! Your in coming heat is making your patience thin and you very emotional."

I stomp off into the bathroom of the lab. How am I suppose to save those women and their children? Splashing water into my face. I stare off into the mirror at myself. My reflection looks back at me with shadows dancing underneath my eyes. I look tired. Which wasn't cute in the slightest. It's one thing to feel tired but when you look it. That is all together something entirely different. "Rian you need to take better of yourself. You cannot spend all of these hours in the lab with your heat being so close! You are wearing yourself down. What if_"

"Okay Sasha. This I know!" I grumble out and look off into the mirror. I wish he was here. I wish he was here to make me laugh and tell me that everything will be alright. The edges of my eyes prickle from unshed tears, as I glance at the mirror hopefully. "Try calling to him again Rian. Maybe he will answer you?"

I shake my head furiously. If Gabriel was available, he would have showed himself to me by now. He never have gone so long without at least saying hello to me or showing some sign of acknowledgement. I think with a frown. It's been three months since I last saw my "honorary brother". I smile at this and contemplate on singing out the lullaby that will bring forth the most talked about scary creature to all small children, who also happens to be my best friend. Looking back up at the mirror hopefully I sigh out and quickly turn to look back down with a  frown at my silliness. I doubt he will answer me. All of my other calls have gone unanswered. I hope he is alright.

Gabriel is always so mischievous. I hope he didn't draw his last straw with the Fae's elite guard with all of his antics. A gasp falls from my lips as the mirror's surface trembles and shakes. I squeal in delight as Gabriel's animalistic form appears before the mirror. Even in his monster form, he is still such a sight to behold. "Gab!" I scream out in delight.

His musical chuckle flows over me in warm familiarity. "Hello my great friend and sister. Your mind was filled with thoughts of me....so of course, I could not resist in making an appearance." he finishes off with a grin. His background behind him was filled with dark moving shadows and whispering voices that I could not place. Of course he is in the underworld. After all that is where he resides most of the time.

"Gab, I tried calling out to you countless times throughout these past few months! What has happened? Are you okay?" I rushed out in a hurry not sure how much time we had to talk. The link from this world to the underworld was shaky at best.

He waves a hand at me and tosses me another breath catching grin, "Slow down little wolf. I am fine, I just had a run in with the Fae's guard. Apparently I offended some of the elders and they thought that they could keep me in a prison...."

"What did you do?" I asked feeling another pang of worry. Knowing Gab, it could have been anything. He just shrugs his shoulders while wearing a look of pure innocence and motioned for me to move back from the mirror. I scurried back and looked on with awe as my best friend steps out of the shimmering reflection to stand before me. His long tail wraps around his furry end  and curls over his abs. Shiny black hooves clip clop on the tile floor of the bathroom in his approach. The light of the small bathroom catches the dark sparkling glint of his horns.
