Absentmindedly, I brushed my fingers across the cool surface of the jewel studded pendant hanging around my neck. Humming with power, the relic Les Maîtres Fouet pulsated gently, emitting powerful magic. Such magic could enslave anyone, while each jewel could be removed from the main pendant and would transform into a mini pendant, giving the wearer control over the enslaved individual. It was such powerful magic, that up to ten people could control the slave. I shivered, the scars on my back remembering the consequences of not following a masters orders. I could still feel the black fire, endlessly burning until you submitted yourself to your master or masters.

Shaking off my dread, I focused on the future and payed attention to my lessons. With a sigh, I realized that the lesson was over and everyone was leaving. Snatching my pencil, I lifted my bag and walked out of class and towards the library across campus. Midway to my destination, I sensed something traveling through the air at a high speed towards me. But I couldn't move, or it would look suspicious.

"Hey, look out!"

Someone shouted behind me. I turned and got whacked in the face with a frisbee. To look normal, I fell and clutched the now forming bruise. It didn't hurt, nothing did after my last enslavement. Sometimes, being a vampire sucked. And no, we don't burst into flames, we can't turn into bats, we aren't deathly pale, and we can usually control our fangs unstableness, which pop out from time to time when we're threatened or enraged. They can also be extended at will.  We do need to drink blood, but I don't drink often. Only when necessary.

The guy who threw the frisbee helped me up, apologized, and walked me to the office before disappearing to his other frat boys. I grabbed a pack of ice and was getting ready to leave when,

"Jocelyn Summers?"

A voice asked from behind me. I sighed and turned to the lady behind the main desk.

"Yes ma'am," my voice husky and calm, "what do you need me for?" She adjusted her glasses and read slowly from a piece of paper lying on the desk.

"It seems that you will no longer be living alone in your dorm apartment, Miss Summers, starting tomorrow, you have five new roommates." I silently groaned. Roommates, fuck. Now I'll really have to sneak around to eat.

"Ok ma'am, I'll prepare for their arrival. Is that all?" My voice must have been tinged with annoyance, because she gave me a look and said no, that'l be all and to have a nice day. I echoed the same and was on my way, holding the ice to my bruise, knowing that It'd be gone in an hour. Accelerated healing was a plus to being a vamp, but it wasn't a crazy healing like, get stabbed, gone in an hour type of deal. It just healed a little quicker. We also have fast reflexes, incredible eyesight, and telekinesis.

I walked my way to the single dorm apartment that I, until recently, was the only occupant. Entering the lock code, the alarms disabled and I entered the building. Since no one was here, I used my accelerated speed to basically fly up the stairs to my room and used my key to open the door. Entering, I was bombarded with the sight of my messiness. I picked up all my clothes and placed them in my room, washed the dishes, vacuumed the carpet, and swept the kitchen floor. After this was finished, I changed my clothes and laid down on the couch to contemplate the gravity of my situation.

'I wonder if I can just lie here for a couple of days,'  I mused. 'Or at least all day tomorrow. I don't have class.' Making up my mind, I decided to watch a marathon of 'The IT Crowd' until noon tomorrow. And I did watch my marathon, but only till nine in the morning. Then, I stretched, changed my clothes again, and headed to the library to study.

3rd person POV

Jocelyn stayed in the library until nine at night and consequentially missed the arrival of her roommates, not that she cared. Around noon of the same day, while Jocelyn was at the library, her new roommates were led to her apartment by the front desk manager. They all stopped outside the door while she struggled with the key. Finally winning the battle with the door, the lady opened it to a sparkling apartment. All the girls gasped at the sight of the cleanness they saw. The manager was impressed and it showed in her voice. "Well girls, it looks like your other roommate cleaned up. Jocelyn? Are you here?" They all listened for a voice, but no one answered. "She must be elsewhere. Well, I wish you girls the best of luck. Jocelyn can be a bit difficult at times, but she's a good person at heart."
