Brooklyn's (p.o.v)

"The prince slipped the glass slipper onto Cinderella's foot, and he knew that she was the one. He took her back to the castle and married her and they lived happily ever after." I said finishing the story and closing the book. Cinderella was always one of the favorites of the children.

"I wanna be a princess." Sofia says climbing up into my lap.

"Keep dreaming." Grant snickers.

"And why do you say that?" I ask holding Sofia close to keep her from crying.

"Because fairy tales aren't real." He answered back as a matter of factly. "If they were then none of us would be here. He says. And just as I'm thinking of something to say Vince comes to my rescue.

"Alright children time to say goodbye to miss Brooklyn then get ready for dinner." He says.

"Good bye miss Brooklyn." The children say each taking turns giving me a hug then leaving the room. When little Sofia comes to her turn she gently pulls on my sleeve.

"Is what Grant said true?"

"No don't listen to Grant he dosent know what he's talking about. Become the princess you were meant to be and make your fairytale ending." I said and she smiled and hugged me then skipped away happily.

"You know you are very good with children I don't think I could have handled it." Vince praises.

"Thanks." I blush. "I really do love the children."

"Then are you sure you won't reconsider working full time here. The offer still stands and the children would be very pleased." He says convincingly.

"You know I would but...."

"Yes I know duty comes first." He says

"Yeah and my parents wouldn't like it. I'm already hiding to lives from them."

"But Brook at some point your gonna have to stop letting what they think influence you. You need to start living your own life."

"Thanks Vince. You always know what to say." I say hugging him.

"That's what I'm here for. Remember I'm always just one call away if you ever need anything." He says hugging me then letting go.  And I look up at the clock.

"Crap I have to go, I completely lost track of time. My parents are so gonna kill me."

"What's the rush?"

"The charity ball is tonight and my parents have some very important guest coming over tonight."

"Ah I see well have fun tonight."

"Yeah right my parents are probably just looking for an excuse to marry me off to some rich guy."

"Ah the life of Brooklyn can't be that bad." He laughs. "Are the guys at least handsome?"

"Yes but they are all fake stuck up arrogant a holes. Besides I already told them I don't plan on marrying, but my mom insist on setting me up with someone. She says she ain't getting any younger and she wants grand babies."

"Well you are their only daughter and child. I'm sure they only want what's best for you."

"What's best for me is just living my life the way I want."

"Eh you never know." He shrugs "anyway you may want to get going."

"Yeah I guess so." I sigh "see you tomorrow." I say heading to the door.

"Yeah see you tomorrow. Go write your fairytale princess." He says and I laugh and walk out of the orphanage and start walking towards the bus stop. My parents had limo drivers and hated me riding on the bus. But I liked it I liked observing the everyday lives of ordinary people. It was calming and peaceful, as well as refreshing from the life of luxury I live not by choice. And I am kept on a very short leash the only places my parents allow me to go that are outside of that lifestyle are the orphanage and the park and even then I'm kept tabs on. I only have the friends and jobs that they approve of. That's why I say they would definitely kill me if they knew about my side job for the gov.

It was only a 15 min ride to my stop. And then a five minute walk to our gated community so I thought that I could slip in the back without being noticed. I as quietly as I could opened up the door and shut it gently and looked around. I thought the coast was clear so I tiptoed to the stairs. As soon as I got to the first step it squeaked and I heard someone clear there throat.

"Stop right there little miss." Came the scolding voice of my father.

"Crap." I cursed myself. This was defiantly not gonna end well for me.
