I awoke atop a white marble counter, my hair washed, straitened and wearing a hospital gown. I looked around at the pristine white room. Not a single thing out of place. My hair was in two loose braids, and I was siting up, swinging my legs over the counter.
"Ah! Miss Raven! Glad to see your awake!" A doctor with dark hair and green eyes walked in, giving me a warm smile "sir? What's going on? I want to go home..." "My dear, I'm afraid that won't be happening anytime soon."
He then started explaining that they are doing tests to locate the mutated cell. I looked down, wanting to see my mom. "We are letting your friends and family come, but only during visiting hours. It's currently 5:20 pm Monday and you slept the whole night and throughout the majority of the day. "You will have some food in about 40 mins and you may change and go see your fellow patients." He said with a warm smile, leaving the room.
I sigh, half out of boredom, half out of lack of reason. What happened to my body? Am I on the news? What's going on?
I got up and saw a couch with magazines, looking through them for some sort of entertainment. I sat on the couch, reading one of the books from the book shelf against the wall, when a nurse knocked, coming in with a tray of food, and a clip board with a pen.
"Ok, Miss Raven, we have news on what's going on. I'm going to ask a couple of questions, and I need completely honest answers. Nothing to be hidden. Ok?"
She asked and put the tray of what looked to be veggies, pasta and chicken, with some ice cream. I looked at her with a nod, and she began. "First knowledge on the power?" "Two days ago."
"First animal transformation?"
"Wolf."
"Any other things with the power?"
"I can grow horns, tails, wings, that sorta thing, and I can be a mythical creature, or change how I look. I see it as being able to shape my cells and chromosomes at will, along with my DNA helix."
"Ok, thank you, enjoy your dinner, and your mother brought a bag of items like your tablet, charger, toiletries, that sorta thing. You can change and go out to the yard to talk if you choose, and curfew is at 11:30. Have a good night, and the doors don't lock so you are free to leave as you like." She gave me a warm smile and left. I thanked her and started eating. After I ate, I changed into a red crop top, pastel pink skater skirt with suspenders, with some blue converse. I brushed out my hair and then left to the yard, everyone looking my way. I blushed severely, wanting to run. I see people without limbs, people with diseases, the whole works. I stand out, looking the only person that's normal... I hated it. Pfttt. I hate it that I'm locked up. I'm not a criminal. Maybe I am? I don't know... I look to the corner and see a tv on the wall, with one boy there, sitting. I walk over and see my face on the news. Shit.
I sit a few seats away and put my head in my hands, and sigh, as my face is on the screen with everyone staring. I looked next to me to find the single boy looking at me, not even ashamed. I just blushed and ran back to my room.
