The day when they would finally be put on a genin team had finally arrived. Sakura was ecstatic as could be while Akira looked at her with happiness glimmering in his eyes. They were making their way towards the academy when Ino came by to provoke Sakura. Of course Sakura, who would never back down from a fight, ended up leaving Akira behind in order to beat Ino.Akira sighed as he looked at the slowly fading figure of the person he promised he would always protect. He knew that the chances of them being in the same team would be low. Akira guessed that teams would be put together in order to balance power, or keep old teams alive (in the case of Ino-Shika-Cho). His heart clenched as he thought of all the times that Sakura might be in need of help, but he would be nowhere in sight.

Akira walked in on the aggravating sight of an innocent person being surrounded by an angry horde of preteen females. A frown etched on his face as he saw his favorite person leading this group alongside a certain blonde. It was Naruto Uzumaki, the boy that was treated like a plague by the village. He guessed that Naruto had said something bad about the Uchiha boy and was now being terrorized by the group of fangirl. He didn't like the fact they mistreated an innocent person because of a reason as petty as a mere crush that would eventually fade away when the girls finally opened their eyes to the real world. Therefore, he decided to do something about it.
As Akira slowly made his way to the despicable scene, some the girls started to quieten down. They knew that the attractive young male did not tolerate that kind of behavior and decided it was best not to get on his bad side. Those girls did not include Ino or Sakura, as they were too busy patronizing the poor blond boy.
"May I ask what is going one," Akira questioned as the two girls suddenly stiffened. "Akira, it's not what it looks like!" the pink haired kunoichi exclaimed as she and Ino turned to face Akira. "Then what is it that IS happening, Sakura?" he questioned as he narrowed his eyes at the two. "You should know better than anyone that I don't condone in this type of behavior!" Akira exclaimed, before lowering his voice " especially considering what happened in your earlier years."
"I'm sorry, Akira," Sakura mumbled out as she looked down in utter shame. "It's not me you should be apologizing to."
"I'm sorry, Naruto. I was too hard on you for something that wasn't your fault." Sakura apologized once again as Akira sent her a look. "It's okay Sakura-chan! You don't need to worry about it, and thank you Akira!" Naruto exclaimed before giving Akira a bright smile. "No problem Naruto, it's what friends do," replied Akira as he gave the loud ninja a small smile, "But Sakura isn't the only one who needs to apologize." He added as he turned to slightly glare at the fangirls that were slowly making their way back to their seats.
They all froze and were about to apologize when Iruka suddenly came into the room. "Quieten do-" he stopped mid-screaming as he realized that they were actually being quiet and not loud and boisterous as they usually were. "If you may all take a seat, I can start assigning the teams," Iruka awkwardly coughed before everyone settled completely down.
Akira let a small smile grace his lips as he sat down in the seat behind naruto. 'This is it. The start of my new life as a ninja' he thought as Iruka started calling out teams and the excitement buzzed throughout the class. ' And I promise to protect those who are precious to me' Akira was snapped out of his thought as Iruka continued calling out the last few teams, one which he was sure he would be in. "Team seven will consist of---"
