Strings of Light

Chapter 2

Riley's POV

I wake up to the sun shining in my eyes. I get out of bed and yawn. I walk to my window and pull back my vintage lace curtains to see my all black cat, Doom, sitting in the window. I pet her and she purrs with pleasure. I walk into the bathroom and slip off my silk gown. I pull on my blue tank top, my shorts, and boots. I brush back my silky greyish blue hair and slip it into two pony tails. I add beads to both my pony tails then slip on my denim jacket and biker gloves. I add a choker and tie just for looks. I apply a dash of lip gloss for just a nice touch, also. I slip Doom's collar on him and grab my travel bag on the way out of the door. I stop by the town market and grab 2 muffins, one for me and one for Doom, it is his favorite breakfast, before heading into the woods. We find a tree and sit under it and eat our breakfast. We scarf it down, (because last night's tiny portions of beef stew wasn't cutting it), and lick our fingers, and paws, afterwards. I pet Doom and say,
"Today we go on our exploration into the woods! Legend has it that that forest is known for its mystical beasts! Maybe we can catch a Wyvren or Dragon Snapper! Rarrrr!!" Doom jumps back scared. I laugh and pet him and say, " It's ok bud! I've got ninja stars and a dagger. No one or no thing is going to touch you!" He perks up and purrs. I stand up and brush the crumbs off while Doom gets ready to head off. I walk over and head to the market to give the guy 4 diamonds for the muffins. I walk over and dig the diamonds out my sloppy bag and look up to hand it to him and then- I was dazed looking at him. He was a young boy, my age, and I had never seen him here before. He had icy blue eyes that sparkled like the ocean, and chestnut brown hair that blew in wind, goodness, he was gorgeous- I snapped out of it and realized he was staring at me as well.
"Oh -um here...th-these are for...for you," I stutter. I hold my hand out for him to take the diamonds, but he just looks at me for a while, then says, "Oh! -um,..I-I'll cover it..mam....," he says smiling at me. I smile back and say,
"Thanks! I owe you! See you around!" He waves and says, "You too!" Me and Doom take off into the woods for our exploration.
"Wow, he was pretty!" I say to Doom. He purrs and rubs against my leg.

We are far into the woods now. I can tell because I am starting to see more mushroom trees. We stop under a tree to rest our legs.
"Lunch would be great right now." I say. Doom purrs happily in agreement! I pull out a piece of bread and butter out of my bag. I break it in half and give half to Doom. I pull out a bowl and pour some of my canteen water into it for him. Together we eat in silence, enjoying nature. "We are getting closer to the mystical areas, I can feel it, Doom." He looks up at me, understandingly. Then, he cocks his head to one side in confusion. "What is it boy?" I ask. He looks into the woods and then looks back at me, then again back at the woods, then back at me. I look over into the woods, past the mushroom trees, and see a glowing white essence. I walk towards it, dazed. I keep walking until I notice the essence coming off of me, but it's blue. I keep walking till I hit my chest on something hard! "Ow!" I say as I fall back onto the ground. I see Doom put his paw on my chest and meow. The rest was a blur.
