As I walked around looking at all the rooms and assigning each room for a different purpose, I got a phone call. It was my best friend, Melanie. I smiled and answered the phone.
"Hey! What's up!?" I exclaimed into the phone.
"Not much, I was just waiting for you to land," she replied, "It's been a couple hours so I figured you'd be in LA already. How is your new house?"
"It's great!!" I said back, "When will you be moving out here with me?!"
"I already told you," Melanie replied, "I'm waiting until I can find a job."
"You don't need to find a job before you move here, just come ASAP!" I said with excitement in my voice, "I've got you covered! You don't need to pay for anything until you get a job. But I'm still gonna make you pay rent when you're all settled in."
"Sounds good to me! I'll start packing!" she shouted, "I'll be there ASAP!"
"Wait, really?" I questioned.
"YES!!!" she yelled into the phone's microphone, "I was going to wait, but what's the point now?!"
"I guess you're right, haha," I laughed, "Hey, I need to go get some lunch. I'll talk to you later, ok?"
"Sure! Cya!" she hung up the phone.
I put my phone in my pocket and went back to the kitchen where I left my backpack. I got out my laptop and put it on the dark granite counter-tops. I searched for places to eat, and found a place that looked yummy and wasn't too far away. I grabbed my wallet, put on my shoes, and made sure I had my phone with me. I opened the door of my new house and began walking towards the restaurant.
As I was walking, some idiot on a skateboard almost ran me over. I glared at him, but continued walking. I pushed my long, curly, brown hair out of my face.
"Sigh... I can't wait to get some food. I'm starving," I said quietly to myself as my stomach growled. I walked quicker and finally arrived at the restaurant. I walked in as the hostess guided me to my table. She handed me a menu and told me my server would be right with me.
The server came to my table immediately afterwards, and asked me what I'd like for a drink.
"I'll take a root beer, please," I said happily, "Thank you."
"Alright!" she replied happily, then left. She returned shortly after and handed me my drink. I thanked her and told her I needed a few more minutes to look over the menu. I didn't feel like eating anything special, so I decided to have some chicken strips. When she returned a few minutes later, I ordered my food and thanked her once more before she left.
I was playing some games on my phone when I got a text. It was from my mom. It read, "Hi sweetie! How are you doing? How's your new place? :)"
"It's great, mom!" I began typed into the phone, "And so am I! You should come visit me when you can, you'd love the house!" I sent it and went back to playing the games. She texted back a couple minutes later.
"That's great, honey," it read, "And I will come to visit as soon as I can, I miss you already! I love you!"
"I miss you, too!" I texted back, "And I love you!"
Soon after, my food arrived and I began to eat. I finished and asked for the bill, and I paid. I left the restaurant and walked back home. I was incredibly happy to be in LA, and I couldn't wait to see what would happen, and how my life would unfold.
