628 Days Before.
"It doesn't answer your question, but can I use the restroom?" I asked Mr. Gibson.
"I don't know, can you?"
"Yes, thank you." I smiled sarcastically and left the room. I could hear Mr. Gibson let out a hefty laugh behind me. I neared the library and could hear people inside talking.
"Dude, you're kidding. She's not just 'pretty' she's hot as hell." That was Sam.
"I mean it's not exactly like I have a shot with her." The voice was only vaguely familiar.
"Again, you're kidding, right? The new kid always has the best shot with Jayla. For one: she's dated three of the new kids and two: she always hangs around the new kids and helps them out because her mom is the principal, hence, she feels obligated to do so."
"Okay slow down, what did you just say?" The voice must belong to Delias.
"Never mind, you are the lucky one, she is gonna be right by your side until another new kid comes along and then poof, you just become another side friend."
I walked away and decided to go to the other bathroom, not wanting to run into them. Instead of avoiding commotion, I got the worst side of it. A group of senior boys were approaching me. They started teasing me lightly and I didn't quite mind until they started pushing my around.
"Please leave me alone." I said weakly.
"Awe is the little principal's daughter gonna run to her mommy again?" Teased one of the boys.
I didn't reply and tried to shove my way past the group.
"Boys! Get to class!" I heard from down the hallway. The boys quickly ran off and I turned to see who's saved me. I gasped when I saw who it was.
"Oh my god," I ran into his arms, smiling more than I ever had before, "thank you."
"I missed you!" He said after I pulled away from the hug.
"I missed you too. What are you all dressed up for?" I said as I straightened out his jacket.
"I was going to surprise mom."
"She'll love to see you. I'd better get to class before Mr. Gibson yells at me."
"Okay, I'll talk to you after school."
I smiled and turned around, having forgotten about my need to use the restroom. Delias was at the end of the hallway, when I got to him he asked, "was that your boyfriend?"
"No, I don't have a boyfriend. That was my brother." I proceeded to wheel Delias down the hallway.
"You two seem close."
"Yeah, after, um..." I found myself not wanting to say the next part.
"It's fine, you don't have to tell me." Consoled Delias. God, it's like this boy can see right through me. I thought. That uncomfortable silence between us arrived once again and left me to think why this always happened with us. We finally arrived at the classroom and Delias turned himself around. His eyes alone, once again left me speechless. How gorgeous and deep they were. I loved how every aspect of his face went into his smile, how it made my day just so much better from that one thing.
     "Jayla?"
"Sorry, erm..." I lightly bit my lip and looked at the ground.
"You heard Sam and I talking didn't you?" Delias raised an eyebrow.
How the heck? "Uh, yeah... I did." I mumbled.
"He really likes you." Delias wheeled away before I could reply, leaving me wondering who he was talking about.

"Jayla, I'm going to ask you something and don't you dare say no." Sam demanded.
"Sam, where is this going?" I asked, he wasn't going to ask me out in front of everyone, would he?
"We're all going to my place tonight and just kinda staying there for the weekend. My parents are out of town and said I could have some friends over. Also I know you don't have any homework or upcoming tests so there's no reason for you to decline."
"Fine, I'll come. Who all is going?" I let out a sigh of relief as Richelle, Josh, Zach, Fallon, Olivia, Rylen and Delias all raised their hands. The bell rang and I headed to my final class.

"Jayla!" Fallon yelled from the office.
"What?" I shouted back.
"Come here!" Olivia peeked her head around the corner with a devious smile on her face. I got up and saw all of the girls huddled by a desk.
"Okay, which one?" Richelle asked as she gestured to a collection of different chick flicks scattered across the surface.
"Obviously... This one." I said as I pointed to Something Borrowed.
"I told you!" Commented Richelle. I grabbed the movie and ran out into the den. The boys groaned as the movie started playing on the screen.
"Oh, stop it." I scolded as I laid down on the carpet.
As we got to the middle of the movie all the boys' eyes were glued to the screen. None of them had spoken a word for at least half an hour.
Richelle's POV.
My favorite part of the movie when Rachel had the flashbacks to her times with Dex always made me emotional. I decided to look away and I found Delias' eyes focused on Jayla. He seemed to be exploring every aspect of her body; his eyes grazed over her back and her legs. There was a small smile on his face but sadness in his blue eyes. I could tell he liked her, not like when I thought Jace liked me but he really liked her. It made my heart fill with happiness when I saw how he looked at her, how he could just stare at her for hours.
When the movie ended Fallon spoke, "I always wanted her to be with Ethan more than I wanted her with Dex."
"What?!" Jayla spun around faster than I'd ever seen her move.
"Yeah, I just thought Ethan and Rachel made a better couple." Explained Fallon.
"Ugh." Jayla said as she stood and grabbed a bag of popcorn from the kitchen.
"Hey! That's my popcorn!" Sam yelled.
"It's my popcorn." Jayla said under her breath. She chuckled at herself and looked over at Delias, who was still in his staring session. Quickly, he looked down at his lap and dropped his attention to his phone. I gave him a slight smile even though I knew he wouldn't see it.
Jayla's POV.
"I'm gonna go change." Richelle stood.
"I will too!" I brought up my hands so Richelle could help me stand.
"I will three!" Olivia hopped up on to her feet; she swayed slightly as she balanced herself.
"Four!" I heard Fallon yelled from around the corner.
"I'll come!" I heard Zach.
"No!" We all shouted in unison. I grabbed Fallon from behind and picked her up and put her behind me. She laughed and started poking at my sides.
"Okay! Stop, stop stop!" I said in a fit of laughter.
I grabbed a shirt and some black capri sweatpants to wear. After I'd changed, I snuck back into the den and saw Delias facing away from me. I crept up behind him slowly. Sam glanced over at me and I quickly put my finger to my mouth, gesturing at him to be quiet. He nodded slightly and I got back to my creeping.
I grabbed Delias' shoulders and yelled, "Sneak attack!"
Delias' muscles tensed and he let out a small yelp, "oh my god, you are so dead!"
I slipped my arms away and ran into the study, I immediately realized my mistake and Delias blocked the doorway. Delias grabbed my waist and pulled me into his lap.
"Shit!" He cursed as his wheelchair nearly fell over. I laughed and put my hand over Delias' mouth.
"Dont say that!" I said through bursts of laughter.
Delias pried my hand from his lips and gave me a soft smile that remained on his lips. I felt his eyes over my body, the way they occasionally grazed over my lips.
"Erm, Delias?" I placed my hand on his cheek.
"Sorry, erm... We'd better get back out there."
"Yeah, we should." I quickly got off of Delias' lap and wheeled him back out into the den.
"Ooh, what were you two doing in there?" Richelle asked with a sly smile on her face.
"Nothing." I said as I sat on the couch next to Sam.
"Well, even nothing is something." Commented Fallon.
"We didn't do anything, okay? End of conversation." I snapped.
The room quieted and Zach turned on some TV show I'd never seen. My eyelids drooped and I felt sleep slowly start to pull me to unconsciousness. Sam hesitantly laid his arm around me. I didn't push him away or move to a different spot, I just rested my head on his shoulder and drifted off to sleep.
