Kageyama ended up letting Hinata stay until Monday morning, and they walked to school together, Hinata insisting that Kageyama should come and sit in and watch practice seeing as Hinata had dragged him to school so early because he didn't know the way from Kageyama's house. Kageyama finally agreed once he realised he'd ended up following the smaller boy to the gym anyway.
Kageyama found himself sitting between the two managers, Yachi talking animatedly about how she didn't get volleyball all that much but she enjoyed watching these guys practice, which Kageyama didn't quite understand, but he listened anyway, managing successfully not to zone out into his own world for the entire time.
"It's called a quick, or a quick attack" Kageyama muttered when Yachi began describing one of the drills that was happening. "we did them all the time in junior high, or, well... yeah" he sighed, sliding down the seat he was sat in, staring at the floor. "sorry! I didn't mean to make you remember bad things!" Yachi apologised the second kageyama's mood deflated, he just shrugged and continued to stare at the floor, frowning.

Yelling filled the gym suddenly, forcing Kageyama to look up, what the hell was going on? Before his head had chance to catch up, his legs were carrying him to Hinata, who lay on the floor, staring blankly up at the ceiling. "Hinata?! are you okay? Hinata? Can you hear me? Hin-"
"You talk too much, Kageyama" Hinata mumbled, his voice sounding disconnected as he turned his head slightly to look at Kageyama "Why am I on the floor? Did I fall over again?"
"Kageyama, Suga, can you take Hinata to the nurses office? We've tried to contact his parents but nobody seems to be answering their phones, do you know anywhere else he could go? He really should go home" Kageyama nodded, helping Suga lift the small boy to his feet. "He's been staying with me all weekend, so I have no idea about his family.. I could get the materials from all of our classes and take him back to my house until he's better..." Kageyama muttered.
"Let's get him to the nurses office first" Suga suggested, adjusting his hold on Hinata so Kageyama wasn't taking all of the boys weight, not that he weighed all that much to begin with, he definitely needed to keep an eye on that.

Hinata woke up in the nurses office, an ice pack against the back of his head and a worried Kageyama sat on the end of the bed.
"I'm sorry" Kageyama muttered, staring out of the window "I probably kept you awake too long this weekend, you didn't get much sleep and you were already sick a-"
"You talk too much"
"What?"
"You talk too much, Kageyama, this has nothing to do with you, I just fell, thats all" Hinata muttered, removing the ice pack and sitting up. "I'm fine!"
Kageyama just nodded doubtfully "whatever you say.. The nurse said you should go home but your bike is at my house and your parents arent answering, so is my house okay?" Hinata nodded silently, slipping his feet into his shoes that were next to the bed. "Thank you, Kageyama, for taking care of me just now" He smiled sincerely, standing up. "Lets go then"
***
"How much further? I'm tired"
"We walked this way yesterday and you weren't this tired... Here, get on my back"
"I'm not a child"
"Get on my back or suffer the rest of the walk"
"fine fine"
Kageyama tightly held the boys legs as they rested against his waist, absolutely terrified of dropping him too easily because he weighed pretty much nothing. Hinata fell asleep on Kageyema's back, soft breathing against the back of his neck warming him slightly, as Hinata had been doing this entire weekend. Kageyama was beginning to feel like he was no longer trapped in an endless winter with this boy by his side.
