Chapter 15

"Oh Darcy!" Someone yelled playfully as I ran around unfamiliar corners.
I was trying to be as quiet as I could, slightly limping due to Juan and Mike attacking me. I was limping from my left foot, my arms had bruises and scrapes on them, while my head was throbbing.
I rounded a corner and came face to face with a door. That led to the basement.
Hesitating for a moment, I stared at the closed metal door, wondering what it would look like in the basement.
Could it be someone's special place? Would it probably be their mancave?
I'll never know unless I do it.
"Darcy!" They screamed again, this time father away.
I exhaled deeply as I opened the door. The smell of mildew instantly filled my nose while I look down the broke, wooden stairs.
It looked as if it hadn't been touched in forever, so out of curiosity, I walked down the stairs, being as careful as I could.
"Darcy, we're not going to hurt you!"
"Yeah right." I muttered, stepping on the middle stair. I realized that I hadn't closed the door that would hide the evidence that I was hiding down here.
I quickly ran back up the stairs, closing the door gently as darkness consumed my sight. I felt around for the dusty handrail and grabbed it, almost as if I would fall any second.
Luckily when I reached the bottom, I ran into a string hanging down from the ceiling.
I pulled on it curiously as light filled the room. I was surprised to see it was a normal looking room, just a little bit dusty and smelly. An old looking bookcase was right next to an ancient looking mirror while the mirror held my reflection. Then there looked like something behind the bookshelf.
My feet seemed to think before my mind did, because walked over to it. My body was fighting against my mind, since I probably was looking like I'm debating on something stupid.
"Darcy!" I heard again, this time he screamed frustratingly.
"Nope." I whispered while smirking.
As I was about to open the little door, a hand grasped mine. "There you are," Liam sighed, pulling my arm gently towards the stairs.
"Why did you wanna go through the door?" Liam asked bluntly, guiding me up the stairs.
"I don't know, it looked... intimidating to me and I'm not used to stuff like t-"
"Just... never. Go. In. There." He said through gritted teeth as we reached the top of the stairs.
"But.. why?"
"Can you just listen for once? You're first day in the house and its already not going as we all planned."
"What are you trying to say?"
"I'm saying you need to be a little more respectful to us! We're all trying to-" He stopped himself before he went any further.
I looked at him with wide eyes. "To what?"
He stared at me. "Forget about it." Liam tried to walk away but I grabbed his arm before he could.
"To. What?" I asked, the glare in my eyes burning.
Liam gulped before sputtering out, "We're all trying to give you the love you deserve, but you're pushing us away. I know that you're 14 years old because I was once too, but we're you're family now. You need to learn that. Just because you lived in the streets for 4 years doesn't give you the right to hate us."
"I don't hate you."
"Well you act like it. And that's my point. Show some respect."
"You're not my father." I spat, running away from him.
He sighed before running after me. "Darcy!"
Ignoring him, I just kept on running.
I turned around to see Liam gripping my arm tightly while panting. "Apologize."
"For what?" I asked annoyed.
"Everything! Not listening to us, running away for no reason, just- being you!"
Ouch.
"I thought that's what I was told to do." I said sarcastically, the tears welling up in my eyes.
"Stop! This is exactly what I mean! Sarcastic comments, running away, saying stuff you don't mean... just... learn."
"Y-you can't t-tell m-me what to d-do!" I cried out, turning around, preparing to run.
"Don't." He warned.
I turned around to see his brown eyes filled with regret.
"Watch me."

Sorry guys! Short chapter. I would've given you a bigger one, but my computer has a virus and someone's fixing it.
If I had it, this chapter would've been 3-4 pages long, but writing this on my kindle is really hard and frustrating.
