The party had come to a wrap and most of the guests had gone. So with all the leaving havoc going on downstairs I'd decided to go hide myself in the upstairs spare bedroom in the far end of the house for some peace and quiet. I was exhausted from a day filled with kids running around, trying to get the kids out the pool to have cake and then trying to get them back in the pool so they could burn off all the energy they'd consumed from all the sweets and cake they'd eaten. Today was one hectic day that will go down in the books foreshore, Izzy had enjoyed every moment of it and all the kids had a blast.
I think even the adults enjoyed themselves had a blast and I know this for a fact cause they had most of the cake (but it was a fairly large and tastey cake everyone loved it especially Izzy).
Igot into the room and finally go to lay my head down on the bed and rest my eyes. I had a sudden craving for toffee and I knew that they were all kinds of sweets downstairs by the pool were the outside part of the party had been. I thought about going to get it but then realised that the possibilities of some one seeing me and asking for something or just saying goodbye would be too high and risking this peace and quiet was not an option.
So instead I pulled out my phone and as I opened it the screen saver was a picture of Dante and his mates. What the heck I thought, then I realised I had the wrong phone. I must have taken it after we finished singing for Litha cause I remember Litha had come to me to ask to take a picture of her and Izzy. She gave me this an IPhone 6s plus with a black cover so I assumed it was mine because it was already unlocked and on the camera I'd assumed Lisa had unlocked it for them. So I took the picture then placed the phone in my pocket.
Great I had no toffee and no phone. My phone is probably still on the counter next to the bar downstairs, I could go fetch it but then again the risk of getting caught and sucked into an endless conversation of party talk was still to high.
And Then of course Colin came buzzing in like a headless chicken. He stopped when he saw lying me on the bed and looked at me in shook and disappointment.
"What are you doing here, I thought you were downstairs helping everyone leave?" He said sounding like he was half whining like a baby and complaining.
" Umm... hell no you are supposed to be doing that I'm the one that welcomed everybody In and helped them get comfortable while we waited for the party to start. And now you have to say goodbye to them." I replied quickly, like people have no idea how hard it is to run the perfect birthday party for your child.
You have to greet the guests when they come and during the course of party you check on them again and make sure they are okay and then you have to thank them for coming and say goodbye to every single one of them as they leave. It was way too much for anyone to handle.
" You know what, I'm sure Lisa is probably doing that for us." He said as he sat down on the bed besides me. He was right I had no reason to stress Lisa was probably taking care of everything downstairs like the wonder women she is. So there's ultimately nothing to worry about expect that I had Dante's phone and the crave for toffee.
"Its all under control babe, calm down." Colin said and he kissed me on the head.
"Lisa has it all under control and if she doesn't owell." He let out a sigh of relief and then took out five coffee flavoured toffee sticks from his Jean pocket. This is why I married this guy he was smart and knew when to unexpectedly bring me the right snack at the time. I grabbed one out of his hand and started eating on it.
"This is why we got married. " I said to him as I snuggled into his arm and took another bit of the toffee.
" You married me for coffee flavoured toffee? " he asked in a sarcastic tone whilst laughing.
"Mostly yes." I replied whilst breaking into laughter myself.
Then I felt a buzz underneath me and then Drake started rapping Controlla. Dante's phone was ringing and it was an unsaved contact calling.I panicked quickly then started laughing historically, I don't know why. Colin looked at me like I was crazy and asked me who the phone belonged to?
"It's Dante's phone, I took it mistakenly and I haven't given it back to him. " we both starred at the phone and laughed.
It finally stopped ringing and Colin asked. "Do you think we should go through it?"
"No, Colin we can't invade his privacy besides we don't know his password."
" True, but this is Dante we're talking about he probably still has the same password. " he said. I thought about it for a second, he could be right and besides it's worth a shot.
"Okay let's try the old password and see if it will work" Colin took the and punched in Dante's old iPhone password, and bing we were in. 10 years down the line and this guy still hasn't changed his password.
We scrolled through his instagram feed first and then all of a sudden his phone rang again and up came Drake rapping again. Then Colin looked at the number closely.
" Isn't this Lisa's number calling?"
I took a closer look and there it was Lisa's number calling Dante's phone. What was going on between the two of them."Yeah I think it is, but why woul-" I was cut off by someone walking in through the door. Colin and I literally froze and stood still like two teens who had been caught doing something wrong.
"So This is where you two have been hiding ." It was Lisa and she looking in at us from the door.
" Yep, you caught us... you could always join us. We have toffee. " Colin said in the worst 'pusuasive' voice ever. It was so terrible I started laughing. Even Lisa started to laugh at him.
" No thanks Colin, although it is an amazing offer. But I'm trying to help Dante find his phone. We can't find it anywhere downstairs and when I try call it, it rings but that's it. He claims that it looks exactly like yours?"
Colin and I went silent and then broke out into laughter. And as we we're about to confess that I had mistakenly taken the phone. It started to ring and Drake started rapping to Controlla.
" You guys, really hijacking your guest's phone. Then not telling me, I could have helped you know..." Lisa replied a bit shocked but she was laughing at the fact she caught Colin and I as if we were two teenage girls trying to sneak out of the house.
"Can please I have his phone back he wants to leave and he can't cause he doesn't have his phone." She walked to us, then took the phone and left. On her way she stopped at the door turned around.
"Did you guys really go through his phone? " she asked.
"What, we would never. Look at us Lisa were appropriate adults with two amazing children and courteous careers. Does that look like something we'd do?" Colin said.
" Yes, it does. " Lisa answered laughingly.
"Okay we did," I finally broke and decided to tell her the truth.
"You should really tell him to change his password it's been 10 years and he still has the same password."***
