After homecoming Jacob and Jenny started to talk a lot more. Jacob would ignore me in the halls and leave me for Jenny.
About a week after homecoming Jacob dumped me for Jenny.
This started a feud between Jenny and I. She hated me.
I kind of saw it coming with the way he acted. I felt something weird at homecoming like things were not right.I had better things to look forward to this week. This weekend I had another homecoming in another small town at St. Lucy's another catholic school about an hour away from where I live. I'm going to go with my friend Lucas.
Flashback
I met Lucas at a summer catholic camp. We didn't talk much but I talked to his cousin a lot. Her name was Abby. Abby and I became instant friends.
Along with being friends with Abby, Lucas came along too. Lucas and Abby hung out a lot and didn't live too far from each other. There was a county fair I went to that summer with Abby and Lucas. Abby told me that Lucas had a thing for me and I thought he was pretty cute. After going on all the rides and watching some bull riding Abby had to go home so I was left alone with Lucas.Lucas didn't talk much but I found ways to make a conversation. I could tell he liked me because he was so nervous around me.
It was about midnight and we were at some booth that sold phone cases and iPod cases. I had to leave any second because my mother texted me and told me she was there.
I was scared and nervous to talk.
"Hey umm. Lucas? Could I have your number?" I mumbled trying not to pass out from being worried of being rejected. He just smiled and entered in his number. I told him I had to go after that and I left. Later that night we were texting and the topic of homecomings came up.
Lucas: hey Sammie. I have a question.
Me: yeah what is it?
Lucas: umm I was wondering if you would go to homecoming with me??!!
I looked down at my phone and smiled then replied.
Me: I'd love too! When is it?
Lucas: It's in October
I let out a laugh. Why would he be asking someone to homecoming months in advance?
Me: I'll see what I can do hopefully I can come!
Lucas: okay :)And that's where our conversation ended for that night.
Back to normal time
It was a few days from homecoming with Lucas. I was really excited but also nervous because I haven't seen him since the fair.
I picked out an old navy blue dress I already had. I didn't want to go out and buy another dress.
It was the night before homecoming at St. Lucy's and i was going to stay at my grandparents house to get ready there the next morning.
Homecoming Day
It is homecoming day and I got to sleep in till about 11am so I would be able to stay away the whole dance. I ate some lunch that my grandparents cooked for me. Then at about 1 I started to get ready for the dance. I curled my hair, put my make-up on, and got dressed in my blue dress. Then the waiting game started.
He was picking me up around 5 and I was going to meet his parents and his brother.
While in the middle of my thoughts I heard the doorbell ring. I couldn't move. I told my grandmother to open the door to let them in. They had a short but sweet conversation and Lucas' mother told me that Lucas' brother would be driving us around to the dance with him and his date. So I got into the truck and we were off.Once we got to St. Lucy's it was a lot smaller than my school. Everything seemed so tiny and weird. I wasn't used to being with so little of people. Once we got into the gym it was a lot different from ours. I had no idea who anyone was. Abby was off with her fiends so I only had Lucas. Lucas doesn't talk much so everything was super awkward. He didn't dance to anything. After awhile one of Lucas' guy friends started to talk to him. Then a group of girls pulled onto my arm and told me to dance with them. So I did. They were all very kind and nice to me. I liked it there. But then I remembered about Lucas. I turned around and he looked like he was panicking that he lost me. Then our eyes met and he smiled and look relieved he didn't lose me. From then on I knew that Lucas and I had something special. Everything with him felt right.
After the dance was over we went to a bonfire at someone's house. It was freezing outside.
Lucas gave me his jacket and the guy who held the bonfire gave everyone a blanket. It was fun we laughed and then he took me back home. Well to my grandparents house. From then on I knew things would get better for me. I made a bunch of new friends in a new town. I wasn't alone anymore like I was back home.
I'm just a girl who was starting to fall in love.
