Jude's POV
I remember Harry way back before the fame. He was a weird, nerdy little kid. But pretty fun to be around. He always drew little things in that journal he carried around. The most common patterns I saw in his drawings were pirate ships and Demi. He paid attention to detail and his sketches were always accurate.
Man, I'm sure I would pay big money for a look at that journal nowadays. Just to look at what went on inside his head. He never went anywhere without it. He must've gotten rid of it over the years because after he became famous I never saw it again.
Actually, no. I do remember the last time I saw the journal. That was a few months after he had released his first album. It was sitting on his dresser. I distinctly remember setting my coke right on top of it because Harry removed the drink and put it on a coaster. What a cheeky kid.
I knew he liked Demi. From the first day that I met him. I could tell by the way he looked at her. I knew that she was oblivious to his innocent crush.
Demi was the type that drove the boys crazy. She had those dark, wandering eyes. The stunning smile. Everything. No flaws whatsoever. So obviously I had to have her.
Being older and more experienced with what I thought to be love, I gradually got to know Demi and I asked her out.
The next day when Harry found out, I could literally see the hurt in his eyes. And I understood. I put myself in his shoes. I couldn't even imagine loving some girl for God knows how long and then having your best friend steal her away.
Still, my relationship with Demi was pleasant. Five months flew by and then we were back to being strangers. I didn't want to be around her or Harry after we broke up. I came around eventually but it took a while. We never got as close as we were that one summer, though. But that might've been better for all of us.
