Demi's POV
After Jude and I broke up, it was just me and Harry. We were still best friends. By the time school let out after our Sophomore year, we had so many plans for the summer. We went to the water park practically every day. That year I got as tan as I had ever been in my life. It actually looked pretty awful when I look back on it.
Harry always wore one of those long-sleeved swim shirts. I never understood why and I didn't feel the need to question him. I had always just assumed it was what he was most comfortable in. I, on the other hand was grateful for the skimpy bikinis my mother had let me buy. By wearing them, I felt mature for whatever reason.
Harry and I were both being pressured to look into colleges by our parents at that age. Neither of us knew what we wanted to do with our lives and we made a statement of it. Somehow we had managed to fit in with the burnouts in high school, although we were really just a pair of nerds. Maybe it was because of Jude.
Nevertheless, we met two of Harry's band members through being associated with the burnouts. Ashton and Jack were two peas in a pod. They had been best friends since they were five and they hadn't left each others side ever since. Ashton played bass and Jack played drums in Harry's band. We found the fourth member on accident while we were waiting in line for a ride at the waterpark.
A lonely young man walked up to us. His stature showed off confidence, although the fear of rejection was written all over his face.
Nevertheless, he managed to introduce himself to us, "Hey, I think you guys are in my grade..I've seen you two around school before. I'm Trenton. Trenton Stout."
I smiled warmly. "Hi. I'm Demi and this is Harry."
"Hey," Harry said as he shoved a handful of fries into his mouth.
"Do you guys mind if I hang with you?" He asked as he sat down at the picnic table, across from me.
"Nope, it's cool." I smiled at him.
"Only if you know how to play guitar," Harry joked. I laughed because at the time, he was really struggling to find a lead guitarist for his band, White Eskimo.
Trenton raised his eyebrows at him. "Actually, I do play guitar. Why?"
Harry looked at him in shock. "Really? I was just joking but-"
"Harry needs a lead guitarist for his band. If you're interested, he's really desperate," I interrupted, laughing.
Harry laughed. "We're not that desperate, but none of us know how to play guitar and it's one of the most essential instruments to have in a band."
"A band? That sounds cool. Sign me up." Trenton smirked.
After talking about White Eskimo for a while, Trenton agreed to be part of the band.
Harry grinned and they shook hands. "Welcome to the band, Trent."
"Glad to help you out, man." Trenton replied.
I guess you could say I kind of became the band's manager. Harry hadn't let me be part of the band for a reason that is still unknown to me. I was a separate solo act. Though that was an entirely different story, I may need to explain in detail later.
Anyways, the band worked out well. They started out as all punk garage bands do - bad. But they progressed quickly and became accustomed to each other's style. By doing this, they created a very unique sound.
Harry was the lead singer and Trenton sang back up vocals sometimes but Ashton and Jack just stuck to playing their instruments.
Originally, Harry had written all the songs for the band, but Trenton soon proved himself to be quite the writer as well. I suspected that Harry was a bit jealous of him, so he restrained Trent's writing talents by saying that the band could only write songs together. That might've been the start of the break up.
