Chapter 6

Price's POV

"Ben what happened?"

"i don't think you want to know.."

"of course i want to know.. why the fuck would i be asking if i didn't want to know?"

"no need to be angry.."

" i have every right to be.."

we've been here almost forever. waiting for him to tell me whatever bad news he's withholding.

I'm getting angrier by the second. if he doesn't tell me right now I'll hit him myself. pacing around my office like if he tells me I'm going to kill him or something. the way he's pacing is just pissing me off more.

"are you going to tell me or i have to beat it out of you"

"no need to be hostile cooper"

"Ben I'm really about to lose my patience right now"

"OK, I'm sorry..."

"just get to the fucking point"

"Kira called and said that Taylor didn't make it home, she seems very worried"

i unlocked my phone to look at the time.

"It's after 9, she left here at 1.30"

she left here hours ago! i should of took her home myself, i knew i shouldn't have trusted that look. she looked broken almost as if she was going to shatter any second. i could see the pain in her eyes, it's rarely unusual for a person to carry so much pain and still act like they've got it together.

"wow! i didn't know you kept tabs on her"

He said sarcastically. i just gave him a stern look. he knows everything to be using that sarcastic shit on me. if he was someone else i would have already hurt him pretty bad too. I've got history doing things that I'm most definitely aren't proud of.

when we were kids at a very much younger age, i could of tolerated him but not today. every since i saw the hurt in her eyes i just couldn't concentrate.I'm trying to play it calm but he just keeps testing me.

"She's my employee...and its what i do"

"you know she's more than that"

he knows me more than anyone. he may be right but I'm not ready to admit it yet.

"Mind your own business"

nobody needs to know, what i know about Taylor. I only told Ben because he's the only one i could trust especially since the incident.

"you think she found out?"

" i highly doubt it"

i hope she doesn't. if she does this will ruin my plans big time. Ben and i have been very careful for her not to find out. she isn't ready to hear the truth. I'm not ready to tell her yet.

"what if she finds out?"

"she won't"

"what makes you so sure? things might not go the way we planned, especially since you can't keep your hands to yourself."

"things will go the way i want it to.... it always does"

i can't afford any mistakes. especially now. I'm not ready to tell her.

"secrets always come out you know"

he's right, he's always been the smart philosophic one. I've always been rebellious, getting into trouble and messing up my relationships with everyone. Ben's the only family i got since my parent's died and i moved in with him and his parents although my uncle was an abuser and my aunt always was working shifts. he turned out pretty great even though he practically grew up influenced by me.

my father left me his fortune, but i wasn't entitle to it until i finished college. so when Ben and i graduated, i gave him a job at the company and we've been together ever since. to think all of this happened from a terrible incident.

my father fired an employee who was very angry at him. he vowed revenge and my father took it lightly and that's what caused their deaths. i was going to be next but the detectives thought that it could be fantastic if i went to live with my aunt and uncle that no one knew about.

"cooper"

i almost forgot he was in the room.

"she can't find out, and we'll do everything we can to make sure she doesn't until I'm ready"

"i will try but Taylor is smart, she'll find out sooner or later"

she is, she was the valedictorian of her class.  what surprises me is that she's been hopping from job to job.

"Taylor wont find out"

I'll make sure of it.

"i wont find out what?"
