Chapter 2

Rico dropped himself on the bed of the dirty motel room and groaned, why the hell hadn’t the girl called him.  It was clear from the look in her eyes she wanted him, he would have figured that as soon as she had reached home she would have called; it was almost three hours later and still nothing.

Rico sat up in the bed for what seemed like the hundredth time and stared around him nibbling on his lips pensively, a habit he had picked up when something bothered him but he didn’t really want to figure out what it was.

“What’s with you?”  Kyle asked turning over on the bed just a few feet away from him and looking directly at Rico’s upright figure.

“She hasn’t called,” Rico muttered.

“Big deal, maybe the girl in the next town will call,” Kyle suggested and turned around again to settle back down to sleep.

“I should have taken her telephone number, I was so sure she was going to call that I really didn’t think it was necessary,” Rico confessed.

“Hey, there’s always got to be at least one fish that gets away right?”  Kyle said sarcastically refusing to turn his body around to face his young alpha.

“She didn’t get away, I let her go,” Rico corrected.  “I could have had her number in a heartbeat if I wanted to.  Hell, I could have had both their numbers.  It’s probably best that she doesn’t call me anyway I’m sure she was no more than fifteen years old.”

“She was driving a car,” Kyle pointed out wearily.

“Sixteen then, or maybe she stole her parents’ car and that’s why she didn’t dare call anyone for help,” the thought made him feel slightly better.  “That’s it you know, she’s just some silly fifteen year old kid pretending to be older than she really is.  Probably realised I was going to be way too much man for her to handle.”

“Uh huh...that’s it alright, too much man,” Kyle muttered still not turning his face.

“What’s your problem?” Rico demanded.  “If I wasn’t an all around great guy I’d have you beaten to within an inch of your life for the insolent way you address me as your alpha.”

Kyle didn’t respond.

“So I like girls, since when did that become a crime?”

“That’s just the point Rico,” Kyle sat up on his bed his face twisted with anger.  “You like girls, not a girl...but girls.  Where do you get off treating women like they were your personal playthings?  This isn’t what we came out here to do, your father sent you out here with part of the pack for a purpose; not to masquerade like some low life motorcycle gang.”

“O...Kaaayyy,” Rico muttered dropping back onto his bed.  “Thanks so much for sharing.  I think you can shut your trap now and get that sleep you so desperately wanted.”

“You want respect Rico?”  Kyle demanded.  “Don’t think it belongs to you just because you’re the son of the Alpha.”

“Is that what this is about?”  Rico demanded sitting up on the bed again the covers falling below his waist and revealing well sculpted abs on a finely chiselled body.  “You’re jealous because you got passed over for the next Alpha and dad chose me to be his successor.”

Anger glinted in the light brown eyes of Kyle as he stared at Rico, the boy had never fought for anything in his life and everything had been handed to him on his lap in a silver platter.  He had respect for nothing and seemed to think he was king of the whole world.
