Too little too late

Hi! My name is valeri Mendoza and this is my diary. My mom gave this to me today! And I'm gonna write everything in it!

Today is my birthday!!!!!! I'm going to tell you all about it ad so as my mom gets home!

MOMS P.O.V.
I was at Walmart. I had forgotten about Valerie's birthday present. Me and her father creg Adams have been fighting this past couple of weeks. FINNALLY! I was in isle 15 where the electronics were and I saw the perfect present! A pair of pink guns-and-roses headphones. Guns and roses were Valerie's favorite band.

VALERIE'S P.O.V
RING RiNG, RING RING! the phone went off. I jumped off of the couch and leaped into the kitchen grabbing the phone as fast as I could. "hello!" I panted

"Umm hi is this Valeri Mendoza"asked the strange voice.

"Uh, ya this is her why?"

"Your mother Emily Mendoza has been in an unfortunate car accident on her way home......
That's all I heard before I dropped the phone and started crying.
Apparently the man on the phone had hung up and was planning to call back or I just got really annoying and he hung up. how the hell could this happen to me? Especially on my birthday. I was siting there crying on the floor when I heard a car door shut.

VALERIE'S DADS P.O.V.
I had just gotten a phone call from an officer and he told me about Emily and that Valeri had dropped the phone and started crying. They strongly suggested that I go pick her up and see if she was ok. So I did. I didn't bother knocking on the door I just walked in. As soon as I walked in I heard crying and weeping coming from the kitchen. Valeri and her mom had always had a special connection that I never had really understood. It's not that me and valeri didn't get along it just that we wernt very close. When she was little I used to beat her. That's why her mother forbidden me to see her without her there.
