Tyler

"Damn, what's that light..."

I shielded my eyes in instinct and squinted involuntarily as I looked in the direction of the strong wind. There was a bright light reaching into the sky, then eventually it faded away.

"Well this is rare." Krista commented. She looked at me. "Want to go check it out?" She asked, smiling as always. Smiling…

"Yeah."

We approached the light where it once was, cautious, heavy boots crunching the dead leaves on the ground that had shriveled away in the autumn. I looked up at the sky and saw my own breath as a small white cloud. A season has passed since then. It was already winter...

I wonder how long it has passed since we separated.

"Hey, Tyler."

I sent a sideways look at him.

Looking at me, Jason cocked his head towards the land in front of him. Mist. Thick, and spreading fast. It spread, and engulfed us in completely.

I narrowed my eyebrows in caution, not saying a word. Slowly, I unsheathed my sword. The rest understood and pulled out their weapons as well. The mist was still spreading, thickening. Even as I tried scanning the area, I couldn't see anything. It was too dense. We stood there in silence, alert, still, waiting for a possible enemy, but nothing ever happened. Then, a faint sound in the distance was heard.

The crunching of leaves.

Slow and steady steps approached us one by one, owned by a solitary person. I turned to my right, where Jason stood.

The crunching noises began to grow louder as the character got closer. Was that person able to see through all this fog?

"Show yourself!"

To my right, Jason leapt towards a silhouette, taking off in such a way the dried, dead leaves were sent into the air in a little spiral, a mini tornado.

"That guy, he's aggressive as always, isn't it?" Krista laughed in slightly taunting way. I lowered my eyelids a little in unease. Something about the character was different. However, he should be able to handle the person, shouldn't he?

???

The last thing I remembered was opening my eyes to see mist all around.

I do not remember my past, nor do I know my name. The only thing I remembered at my pointing of waking was him. His face, in my memory, was unclear. I couldn't make out his appearance, but that person clung onto my mind. Who was he?

Who am I?

Fog surrounded me, clouding my vision. The humidity in the air was high, obviously, and the tiny bits of water vapour felt like miniscule ice shards pricking my skin. Even so, it felt comforting, as if the cold itself was a part of me.

"Ahh..."

I walked around. The mist was really dense indeed. One had to be at least a metre away from something to even just faintly see it. As I walked on, I sensed presence of humans. I approached them. Would they notice me? Then again, what would I do if they really did see me? I picked up my pace a little as I walk towards a possibility of three persons.

"Show yourself!"

A blade came flying towards me, cutting through the mist. Instinctively, I pulled out a sword and deflected the blow.

Did that person know me? Was he the one that I happen to remember?

Another blow struck my weapon. Not wanting to hurt anyone, I merely blocked it. The moment the surface of our blades touched, the surrounding fog was momentarily cleared. I managed to see the attacker's face, and I was sure that person saw me. A male. However, he wasn't the person. That person that I remember flashing in my mind before I opened my eyes. How disappointing.

Even so, he seemed as if he's attacking a foe, yet he doesn't seem to be one that was sent to assasinate me. There was fury in his eyes, as if he was attacking an enemy he knew.

He might know me...

I had to talk to him, yet that was practically impossible with him being worked up. I had to quieten him down. Previously as I thought, all I did was block his attacks. He didn't seem to be much of a deal, so I supposed taking him down should be easy.

Jason

As I fought, the female started to possess increased dexterity and strength. I could barely keep up with the her speed and became at the receiving end of every move. That female, who was she? Blocking her attacks took almost all of my effort, but she moved with swiftness and each blow seemed nothing to her.

This wasn’t good.

As I struggled with her attacks, the mist began clearing. With increased visibility, I managed to move with knowledge of my surroundings, but that character too, attacked with greater speed. In the end, the sword that hit mine sent a burst of knockback power towards me, and I felt myself flung backwards. She walked towards me and bent over, positioning her blade over my throat. Shit... Her cold stare bore into me. She'll probably just pierce my throat with her sword with no hesitation at all. I stared at the coldly glinting weapon, and steadied my own. Then, she kept her blade, which puzzled me. Was she planning to rebel against her own master?

"I do not wish to harm you," she said. "You do not look like you are sent to assassinate me either." She got up, and stretched her hand out to me. I took the outstretched hand that pulled me up with ease. "Why did you want to kill me? Do you know me?" Processing her words, confused, I thought about the possibility of an ally. Speaking of which, I started the fight, not her. She could have been just any person, the mist could have been any other mist. I bit my lip in remourse, a habit of mine. Everything was so clichéd that thinking would cause my head to start throbbing. Excatly what was going on? The girl which pulled me up was looking at somewhere. I turned my head to where she was looking.

"Tyler?"

Tyler wasn't looking really alright. He was pale, and shocked. Did he know this person? Disturbed a little, I gulped and opened my mouth to speak, but no words ever came out. I figured it wasn't the right time to speak. The female stepped forward just a little, towards where Tyler stood.

"Who are you?"

She spoke in such an authoritative voice she looked like she was questioning Tyler. I understood, she demanded an answer.

Tyler

That person...

Why?

She was here.

It was impossible, but my eyes never lie. Even if I tried to escape it, it was right smack in front of my face. One cannot run from reality.

Has she? I felt my hear clench as I considered. It's possible. So she did it, in the end.. How amusing. How awful. The whole world was spinning. The breath that got caught in my throat couldn't find its way to my lungs. They do resemble each other, huh. I silently bit my lip. Her smile, that smile. It'll be gone forever. The last present she left was this girl. The last remnants of what was once her.
