“Why the hell is she going in there alone?” Scarlet yelled to the television as we watched the main character go into the abandoned warehouse alone.

I watched amusedly as Scarlet leaned forward towards the television in my living room. Scarlet didn’t swear a lot, but she seemed to really be getting into this movie.

She glanced over and glared at me as she heard me chuckle.

“Seriously,” She said with wide eyes, pointing to the television. “These people are morons! They go into abandoned warehouses and expect not to be stabbed and killed, I don’t even get how-“

Scarlet stopped mid-sentence, screaming out as we watched a masked figure jump out from behind the shadows and stab the young girl, who screamed in pain.

Scarlet tucked a piece of long, blonde hair behind her ear as recoiled in her seat, back into my side with my arm around her shoulders.

“Oh my god.” She squeaked as the girl, who had just been stabbed, fell to the ground. The girl’s boyfriend throughout the movie ran into the warehouse. He saw the figure standing above the girl, with a bloody knife. He froze and then turned away, running out and away from the screams and cries of his girlfriend.

“That dick!” Scarlet yelled, looking at me. “He just left his girlfriend, the ‘love of his life’ to die!”

I laughed again at the rare foul language that left Scarlet’s mouth. She closed her eyes tightly as the masked figure stabbed the girl one last time, and then left the warehouse with her body.

“What are you guys watching?” Matt asked as he came and sat down next to Scarlet.

“Little too close there.” I replied as I saw the thin inch of space that was between him and Scarlet. She was completely oblivious as she was leaned forward again, staring intently at the movie. Matt rolled his eyes in annoyance as he moved farther away from her.

After watching a few more minutes into the movie, Matt got up.

“Oh fuck no, I’m not watching this horror shit.” He said. “I’m going over to Mason’s.”

“Okay.” I replied, happy that I would have the house alone with Scar. My mom was at work and Sam was at his friends. Matt walked out the front door, closing it behind him.

I glanced at Scarlet. I couldn’t concentrate on the movie with her so close to me. I could smell her hair, which smelled like strawberries. Her long lashes, were thick and full even without make up. She had on my sweatpants, and one of her own tank tops that came right above her hips, making a sliver of her flat stomach visible.

Ten minutes later, the movie ended with the betraying boyfriend dying in a freak accident. Scarlet finally let out a breath as the credits came on, and turned to me.

“Did you like that?” I laughed as I shut the movie off. She ran a hand through her hair, turning so that her legs stretched across my lap.

“You wouldn’t leave me to die, would you?” She asked, with a smile on her face. I put on the most serious expression possible.

“Baby, I would die for you.” I said with enthusiasm. “I would take a fucking bullet, right here,” I pointed to my heart.

Scarlet laughed at my expression, leaning her head on my shoulder. I smiled at her, raising my eyebrows.

“You’d save me from a psycho killer too, wouldn’t you?” I asked. Scarlet looked at me, and bit her lip and deep concentration.

“Depends on how many times you’ve already been stabbed.” She said. I laughed incredulously, as she shrugged. “I mean, if you’ve only been stabbed once and it’s possible for you to live, then I’d probably save you. But if you’ve been stabbed like three times and you’re halfway dead, then what’s the point of putting my life in danger too?”
