Prologue
I watch, frozen as her legs begin to buckle beneath her and she crumples to the ground. I rush towards her as different emotions flow through me; pain, anger, worry. But the strongest emotion I can't help but focus on is the heart stopping fear I feel. Fear of losing my Rosa. Fear of not knowing if she will live....or die.
Her blood stained hands cover her stomach while she moans in pain and I try to focus and keep calm because she is all that matters right now. Getting her help is all that matters. Tears tumble from her chocolate brown eyes as I clutch onto her hand and tell her everything will be ok. It will be ok. But the truth is I don't know if it will.
Her eyelids start to flutter, her breathing shallows and all I can think is I love her and I need her. My stubborn, aggravating, sweet mate. The moon shines brightly illuminating her cold pale skin and all I can do is pray to the gods above, if there are any, to hear my prayer. I need to get her out of here. We need to leave before all hope of saving her is lost. Crimson blood soaks her cloaths and hair. I'm scared. So very scared. What if its too late? Her pulse is slowing and her breathing is faint. I lean down and brush my lips softly against hers. It's my final plead for her to be saved.
