The little black dress
I sat down on the soft hospital waiting room chair. It felt like hundreds of people had sat here before me waiting for the news that could change their life forever. It was Tuesday 22nd of October the day my mum was going into the surgery of her life literally. If they could find it all then there was a chance, but the thing is they don’t even know what “it” is. Its just a mass. A family destroying, life ruining mass. A cancerous mass. Hours went by Max called me several times asking how it was going but I didn’t want to talk. Dad was just sat there silent, clicking his fingers in anticipation of what was about to be said.
The door flung open, a man dressed fully in white shrubs entered. Me and dad stood us all of a sudden. We where braised for the worst. The doctor hesitated, I was about 2 inches away from crying my eyes out. “We removed all of the tumour, she did great!”. All of my fears suddenly vanished and I was filled with relief. My dad hugged me as tight as I could ever remember, his soft tears of happiness touched my hair. I felt at one again.
Mum looked so peaceful asleep. Her beautiful golden brown hair covered her pillow. I looked at her and remembered just how lucky I am to have parents who were alive and who loved me. About 30 minuets later mums eyes started to flicker. She woke up. She said in her soft caring voice “I'm awake now sweety, everything will be aright. I promise...”. Dad ran in after and kissed her passionately. thought I mite have to leave them alone for awhile.
The next day I ran to school with Max, we where late to first lesson but I didn’t care he meant the world to me, I loved him so much. At break I went to my special place, as I stepped out on the the dark muddy sports field. I was Mrs Light. She ran towards me soaking wet plus she looked serious. I panicked and shouted “Miss are you okay?” “Sir need to see you in his office”.
I was confused and weary as I stepped in Sirs office “Hello Katie...” His hesitance worried me “We have a call for you” I felt as if my heart was about to explode from all the suspense. “Its from the hospital...”
