"And this is the..." Liam proceeded to show me around but came to a halt in his steps when noticing I wasn't paying attention.
We were in from of the library but something caught my attention.
There was a painting hung up on the window of the library on the outside.
It was a fairy boat.
Drifting in the water.
With people enjoying themselves on it.
I stopped walking and stared precisely at the painting thinking back to my dad.
He loved fairy boats.
So much that he loved being on them.
"Are you okay?"
A familiar voice shook me out of my thoughts.
I couldn't answer Liam.
The lump in my throat stopped me from telling him I was fine.
Which would have been a lie.
I remember my father running into the kitchen with the house phone tight in his grip.
He had a big smile plastered on his face.I could've sworn the sides of his mouth reached his eyes.
"The company called and told me where my next destination will be!"
I was cooking dinner, spaghetti with extra meatballs.
He always wanted extra because they were his favorite.
I confined to stir the meat, wooden spoon in hand.
"What is it dad?!"
I was engulfed in happiness because seeing him happy always made me happy.
"Antarctica!" Half fairy boat, half plane ride to get there!"
He laughed loudly in amusement.
Antarctica.
The color drained from my face.
To far. To long. To many risks.
He's been on these trips before but never that far.
He broke the silence by swallowing me with a tight hug m
I barely had room to breath.
He was to happy.
I couldn't tell him I didn't want him to go....
I hugged him back not knowing that would be the last time I hugged him.
"Lexi?" I felt a strong grip on my shoulder.
"Lexi, what's wrong?
He repeated.
The tears that I wouldn't drop, burned by eyes.
I moved to look at Liam to see he was already starting at me, searching for my eyes.
He looked genuinely concerned.
While he stared at me, waiting for me to speak with his soft eyes,I stared at him, with guilt and defeat, knowing what I was about to do.
I felt a warm drop of water leave my eye.
One after another, they left calmly.
Until I began to sob.
I tried my hardest not to think about dad.
But when I did, our was hard to bring my self together again.
I left the thought at that as a firm body was pressed up against mine.
Liam snaked his arms around my wait while I just sank , perfectly fit, into his body, wanting to feel safe and warm, which is exactly the vibe I got.
"Its okay. Shhh."
He whispered into my ear after each of my quiet sobs.
Eventually I finally leveled my breath and inhaled deep swallows of air.
As if he was oblivious that I calmed down or somehow he just knew I needed to not be left stranded alone- he didn't budge, leaving me swimming in my thoughts.
