A/N: Just a heads up, in this oneshot you were the Hero of Ferelden who disappeared after the Archdemon was killed. You're now the Inquisitor who has some explaining to do to a certain king.

"Okay, Leliana, I'll bite. What're we doing out here in the bloody cold?" You asked the Spymaster with a tired and, rather, pissed off tone with a blanket around your body as you both walked down the halls.
It was the middle of the night as you two walked towards Skyhold's garden and you were thinking "Why the hell did I let her drag me out here?"
You were...were...sleeping soundly in your bed, under the many quilts and blankets you have to keep warm (a/n: you never have the fireplace going.), dreaming peacefully...and in comes your Spymaster, urgently waking you up to come with her to the gardens.
"I told you, [Y/N], it's urgent so we need to hurry." Replied the redhead with a tone you never heard before...like she was excited or something.
Sure, you two have been dearest friends for a decade since the end of the Fifth Blight but you were cold, tired and irritated at the redhead for dragging your ass out of bed with no explanation.
"Leli, I don't understand why the hell it's so important. I mean, if it's so urgent then why aren't there any guards on duty?" You asked as you both entered the dimly lit garden. All the flowers that were planted for potions just started sprouting, the gazibo that was broken had been repaired and painted a few days stood beautifully with lit lanterns on it's rails.
You saw a figure leaning over the railing, their back towards you. You strained your eyes trying to see who this siloette was but you could not.
Leliana and yourself stepped onto the gazebo and what happened next surprised you; Leliana bowed to the stranger, "I have brought the Inquisitor as per your request."
You stared at her with frightened wide eyes, "Leli...?"
She glanced at you with a mischievous and somewhat happy look in her eyes, a grin plastered on her face.
"Thank you, Leliana. That is all...please, leave us be." This stranger which you can hear is a man said, with his back still to you, in a hushed tone as Leliana bowed once more and turned to walk past you but not before placing her hand on your shoulder briefly and smiling kindly at you.
It was a few minutes of silence before you gathered up the courage to say question this stranger, clenching the blanket around you tightly, you opened your mouth to say something...but you were beaten to the punch, "You haven't changed a bit in the last ten years, [Y/N]." You stared at his back for another minute before asking, somewhat polity, "I could, maybe, say the same to you...if you would be so kind as to turn around."
He chuckled quietly, "You don't remember my voice? And here I was hoping to continue being mysterious. Well then...", he began turning as he continued speaking, "A decade ago, we were comrades...friends..." You had never heard such a sad, forlorn voice before.
"...then we became lovers in the midst of the war that was plaguing Ferelden..." Your skinned paled and [E/C] eyes widened as he fully turned towards you with sad, steel brown eyes.
"...Alistair..." You whispered sadly.
Alistair, King of Denerim and Ruler of Ferelden, straightened up as he stared at you with such power that you couldn't look him in the eye as memories and regrets surfaced.
"Mm, yes. 'Alistair'...glad to see and hear you after all this time." He spat at you.
You gulped nervously, sweating bullets under the blanket, "To what can I do for you, Your Majesty? Surely, this isn't a normal visit to anywhere for you for you to not have your guards here." You were terrified, you didn't know what the hell to do, this is...was...your lover before you ran.
"Ah, yes, that...see I was in Redcliffe visiting the Arl when I heard a rumor from the staff that the Inquisitor had a striking resemblance to the Hero of Ferelden. Now, I normally brush it off as speculation...but when I heard that not only was there a resemblance in looks but in voice, personality and fighting style, I had to look into it."
Alistair was holding in his anger that much you could tell by the strain in his voice...oh, how much you want to crawl up and hide right now.
"It took awhile but I was able to contact your Spymaster, Leliana, and after sending letters back and forth she finally answered the question that was weighing on my mind...That you were still alive...and that you were, in fact, the Inquisitor."
He walked up to you, hands behind his back as he loomed over you like a damn vulture eyeing it's prey all the while you keeping eye contact away.
You were taking in shaking breathes as he cornered you, "I...Alistair, I'm..." You said with tears forming in your eyes and voice cracking like a vase crashing on the floor.
Alistair sighed quietly, scratching the back of his head, "Why did you leave? Why didn't...*sigh*...why didn't you tell me you were alive?"
"I couldn't...I just...couldn't." Tears were running down your face now. How could this have happened? You were so careful in hiding away and had even made Leliana promise not to say a word after she found out that the Inquisitor was also her friend the Hero of Ferelden. She promised to keep it secret from everyone, especially to him of all people.
"[Y/N]...look at me...please" Begged the former GreyWarden. You finally looked at him while still crying to see he was shedding tears now too.
You cleared your throat some to speak, "I...after you stepped up to become king, dethroned Anora and you told me we couldn't be together due to you needing an heir...I became depressed and...started eating glutinously...I couldn't bare the pain...so I drowned myself in eating whatever I could find. Even after the Archdemon's death...I needed to drown and drown...and drown...til it finally came and bit me in the ass. Heh, I was too embarrassed about how much of a fatass I became to say anything to you or anyone." You finished with a sad and heavy sigh, relieved to get it off your chest. Alistair stared at you for a few moments before finally...he started laughing. You continued staring at him with dried tear stains on your face like he was insane. You were pissed now. Here you explained to the love of your life as to why you left and here he was, laughing his ass off!
"What the hell is so damn funny, you prick!?"
"I'm sorry...I'm sorry, it's just...*laughs*...you--you shouldn't have been embarrassed in the first place, darling." Wiping the tears in his eyes and clearing his throat, Alistair looked at you with such love and admiration.
"I don't think you're a 'fatass', love. You're still beautiful and wondrous." He was smiling...smiling! Why?
"You're...not mad? Why? You should be disgusted by me and hating me for leaving!"
"I asked you a question and you answered, truthfully. And for that...I can't be mad...not at you, my dear. And do you know why?"
You shook your head slightly.
Alistair wrapped his arms around your fluffy waist, and replied, in a quiet voice, "Because I still love you, darling...with all my heart."
In a daze you dropped the blanket from you body as you covered your mouth, trying and failing to hide your sobs. This man...this king, that you have come to love, still loved you. Even after ten years of not hearing from you, he still loved you so much. You wrapped your arms around his neck and cried into his chest as he continued to hold you and whispered sweet nothings into your ear.
After a few minutes, you had calmed down a bit but still letting out a sob on and off as you unwrapped your arms and tried to dry your tears away, Alistair used his thumb to dry most of your tears away himself.
Sniffling, you looked at him then to his armored chest to see tear stains on it and giggled/chuckled at it, "Sorry... I may or may have not gotten tears on you, my king."
Looking at you with a smile and a blush on his face with that 'my king' comment, he chuckled himself, "Ah, it needed a polishing up anyway."
Continuing to hold you he cleared his voice again to get your attention which he did, "I don't intend for you or myself to leave. So...I'm going to stay here at Skyhold with you..ah--", he stopped you from interuppting by placing a finger on your mouth as you tried to speak, "and after this Corypheus business, you are going back with me to Denerim as my bride/groom." He finished as he smirked and removed his finger from your lips while you looked at him with a gaping mouth.
"But...hang on, what about the Queen?"
"There is no Queen. The court only needed an heir, they didn't say they needed a Queen as well...so..." He pushed you against to railing, trapping you and pressed up against you, "Will you come with me? Will you come home?" He asked in a hushed and sultry tone, his lips grazing upon yours. Trapped between a hard spot, you glanced at his lips to his eyes and replied quietly, "Yes..."
As soon as that one word left your mouth, it was covered by your king's own mouth. It had been so long since you had been kissed by him but you didn't hesitate to close your eyes. He did not waste any time in the kiss either as his tongue invaded your cavern in a battle for dominance. Up, down, left, right and around, Alistair explored every inch of your mouth like he hasn't tasted it in years...cause he hasn't. After 5 minutes of tongue wrestling, he finally pulled away from you, both of you completely out of breathe. He laid his forehead against yours and stared into your eyes with a mischievous gleam.
"What's with the look?"
"Oh, I was thinking about what I'm going to do to your body."
"Yup, he changed over the years...shit..." You thought as a blush came on your face as his hands roamed over your body.
"So, shall we return to your room...Inquisitor?" He whispered in your ear as he took hold of your hand and led you back to you room, your blanket forgotten on the grass.
You smiled.
"This is going to be a long night...but meeting again was worth it."
