'Downtown we let it go. Sunset high and our bodies low. Blood rush in the hazy glow. My hands, your bones.'
You smiled when you heard the lyrics as you rose from your bed and turned up the volume on your phone, swaying along with the music. You set your phone down on your bed before closing your eyes and losing your body in the music.
Little did you know, Castiel was standing in your doorway, watching your every move curiously. He knew that what you were doing was dancing but he didn't understand the cause to make someone want to dance, or even what the point of it was. Hell, even what kind of music causes what kind of dance. He had to admit, though, the music did make him want to dance, even if he had no clue how.
"Y/N?" Castiel questioned once the song was over, making you jump.
"Shit! Cas!" you exclaimed, holding your hand over your racing heart. "How long have you been standing there?"
"How do you dance?" Completely ignoring your question, Castiel walked over to you and tilted his head confusedly. "Can you teach me?"
You chuckled and nodded, finding his confusion and curiosity adorable. "I think we need a bigger space," you told him, looking around your small and slightly cramped room. Cas nodded and you felt a shift in temperature as he took you both somewhere else. You looked around and realized you were standing in an abandoned building."Fancy," you joked, immediately seeing Cas' face morph into sadness. "This is perfect. This works," you reassured him, smiling reassuringly at him. You silently thanked yourself for having shoes on before checking your back pocket, sighing when you didn't feel your phone. "I think my phone is still in my room."
Cas nodded and poofed away, returning a few seconds later with your phone in his hand. You smiled and gratefully grabbed your phone, immediately scrolling through your music. "I think we should start with slow dancing. It's probably the easiest and only requires two people."
He nodded and you clicked on a slower song before turning the volume up completely before putting your phone in your back pocket. "Okay, so put your right hand here," you instructed, taking his right hand and placing it on your waist. You placed your left hand on his shoulder and linked your free hand with his.
'You are the avalanche, one world away. My make-believing while I'm wide awake. Just a trick of light to bring me back around again. Those wild eyes, a psychedelic silhouette.'
"Okay, so just turn-step. It's just like walking in a hexagon shape, got it?" you explained as you led the steps, shifting your gaze from both of your feet to his bright blue eyes that practically were the color of blue raspberry cotton candy.
You threw your head black laughing when Cas tried to spin you and failed, your heart swelling with love at the adorably clueless angel's actions.
The song ended and you pulled away, watching Cas visibly slump when you let go of him. "Let's see if we could do a faster song," you told him, both of you silently wishing that the moment would never end. You grabbed your phone and chose the song 'Unbreakable' by Jamie Scott. You put your phone away again and both of you assumed the same position you were in previously, dancing along with the tempo. It was a little faster and you were surprised at how well Cas was doing, Cas' face showing that he was, too.
'When you lose your way and the fight is gone, your heart starts to break and you need someone around now. Just close your eyes while I put my arms above you, and make you unbreakable.'
The music picked up speed and Cas smiled nervously before letting go of your waist and spinning you, causing you to giggle with excitement. He stopped spinning you and dipped you, watching your hair fall back, his heart beating fast from your shocking beauty. He pulled you back up and pressed you close to him, a blush rising to your cheeks. "Where'd all that come from?" you breathed out, a blush rising to your cheeks as you smiled.
"I don't know. I just got lost in the music." You stayed in his arms for a few more moments, swaying softly to the music. Cas slipped his hand under your chin and tilted your head up to look at his blue eyes swirling with what you could only describe as love. "Y/N," he breathed out as you brushed your lips against his, a wave of comforting warmth surrounding you as you felt Cas press his lips firmly against yours.
He tangled his fingers in your hair, holding you as close to him as possible as your lips molded together perfectly, making you forget how to breathe properly. Even though you were standing in an abandoned building with the cold winter air nipping at your skin, you had never felt as safe or as warm when your lips were pressed against Cas'. Your heart fluttered in your chest and you felt your limbs go weak, luckily Cas was holding you up so you wouldn't collapse.
The music ended, the last words echoing throughout the building as you and Cas held each other closely.
'Yes I love, I love, I love, I love you darling. And I'll put my arms around you, and make you unbreakable.'
And even though Cas never said those words to you directly, you knew it was true. He loved you, and he would make you unbreakable.
