If I was your boyfriend I'd never let you go, I could take you places you ain't ever been before...
The sound of Justin Bieber awakes me, not remembering where I am. Oh right, I'm in Dayl's bed. My parents would probably kill me if they knew I was sleeping in a boys bed. I was never even allowed to have sleepovers with other boys, or any on school nights. School. CRAP. I open my eyes slightly, and am confused to see a shirtless Dayl sitting next to me on the bed, under the same cover as me.
"I'd liiiike tooo be, everything you want" Dayl starts singing along in a ridiculously high pitched voice. "Heeeey giiirl, lemme talk to-"
"Good morning," I say, startling him. "What are you doing?" I laugh.
"Oh! Madeline, I thought you were still sleeping!" He replies, still talking in the same silly voice.
"I thought you fell asleep on the couch? And with a shirt on?
He talks in his normal voice again. "I did, but I woke up around three am because I had back pain. I was half asleep when I came in here so I didn't know you were in the bed. Sorry I wasn't able to drive you home."
"Oh well, not much we can do about it now. I'll just get ready for school with the rest of the household."
"Just letting you know, don't be surprised when you see Cian shirtless," Dayl chuckles.
"Thanks for the warning." We make our way to the kitchen where sure enough, Cian was topless while eating a bagel.
"Good morning, sunshine!" Dayl says as he sits down at the table. "Madeline, come have breakfast!" He says as he pulls out the chair next to him for me to sit.
"I really need some coffee," I say as I scoot the chair in.
"None of that here," Dayl replies. He makes direct eye contact with Cian. "Because SOMEONE can't even stand the smell." He turns back to me and says "I'll take ya to Starbucks, I could go for some coffee too."
"Thanks," I smile. "Cian, Cherry told me she has some clothes I could borrow?"
Cian takes a sip of his orange juice and says "She's in our room doing her makeup. Just knock on the door first."
I leave the table and walk down the hallway, knocking on the bedroom door that was already halfway open. Before I could knock, Cherry noticed me in the reflection of her mirror and invited me in.
"Hey, come on in! How did you sleep last night?"
"I fell asleep pretty fast. You said you had some clothes I could borrow?"
"Yeah! My clothes are in the closet, pick anything you want."
I skim through her clothes, looking for a pair of jeans that will fit me. I'm a size 10. All the pants are size 8. Wait a second- JACKPOT! Black leggings! Ugh, now to find a shirt. Pretty much everything in Cherry's closet is form fitting, and not meant to fit someone with a larger chest. To make things worse, I don't even have a bra! I settle for a light blue cami with one of those "built in bras" which is really just an extra layer of fabric that provides no support. Clutching the clothes in my arms, I thank Cherry then go back to Dayls room to change. The leggings look fine on me, but this top is a huge no-no. With a bra and cardigan it might be fine, but right now it looks like my nipples are trying to escape my cold body. Uhm, no thanks. I open the door and walk back to the kitchen with my arms crossed in front of me.
"Hey Dayl, do you mind if I borrow a sweatshirt?"
"Yeah no problem, it's chilly outside. Also, why are your arms crossed in front of you?"
I can feel heat rise up to my cheeks. "Like you said, it's chilly." Dayl just nodded his head and I went back to his room. I open his closet to find no sweaters. Maybe in this dresser over here? What's in this drawer? Underwear. This one? Socks. Only one drawer left. Found it! Let's see, what do we have to choose from? There's a black and white striped sweater, a blue and yellow jacket, a Winnie the Pooh onesie? I look through all my options before picking out a grey Hollister hoodie. I put on my sneakers and throw my hair in to a half-up ponytail. Not my best look, but it could be worse. Never mind, this is the first time I've ever gone to school looking this bummy. At least in college dressing like this really isn't a huge deal.
"Dayl, you ready to go?" I say, walking out of the room.
"Yeah just give me two minutes to change." Dayl shortly comes out of his room, spinning a set of keys around his finger. "Let's go. Cian, we'll be back to pick you and Cherry up in half an hour." I followed him out the door and in to his car.
"So... What do you think of my outfit?" I playfully ask him.
"I like it, but only a crazy person would buy that jumper." I start laughing and gently punch his arm. We listen to the radio for a few minutes until we arrive at Starbucks. The chilly air hits us as we leave the heated car and sprint in to the cafe. I take in a huge whiff of the coffee smell, wondering why Cian doesn't like it. Dayl wound up paying for my things again, and I promised to pay him back.
"Really, thank you for all you've done for me last night and today. You're saving my life by taking me to here, I need coffee to stay awake! Especially after sleeping late last night. By the way, next time we get food, I'm not letting you pay."
"That's what friends are for." He says as he flashes a genuine smile at me. We finish our breakfast and head back to pick up Cian and Cherry.
"Hey Madeline, can you text Cian and tell him we'll be there in five minutes?"
"Sure."
