I opened my eyes and the first thing I was greeted with was a very shining light or fluorescent I closed my eyes back immediately and groaned, God! my head hurts so does my entire body.
"Oh my baby you're finally awake"
I turned to the direction of the voice "Mom?"
"Yes my love it's me, you gave us all a fright your dad stepped out to make some calls I'll go call the doctor" she said as she stood up and pecked my cheek
"Okay" I replied as she left I looked up again to be greeted with the same bright light causing my headache to increase
I tried sitting up to avoid looking at the light before a voice interrupted me
"Easy now, don't stress yourself"
I turned and saw a middle aged man wearing a lab coat I'm guessing he was the doctor next to him was my mum
"How are you feeling?" He asked
"Bad, my head and body aches and this light" I said pointing up " Is making it worse"
He chuckled "All that is expected he said "And don't worry I will make sure something is done about the light"
"Thank you"
"Can you remember what happened?" He asked
A flash of the previous events rushed through my mind from the breakup, to the slap, then the rain and-
"I remember trying to cross the road but the rain made my vision a bit blurry making me not to see the car speeding ahead" I answered as I tried sitting up again
"Gently" my mum cautioned
Lifting my body slowly I placed my hands on the sides as I shifted backwards I noticed something
"I can't feel my legs" I announced
"Are you sure?" The doctor questioned as mum's
mouth was wide open
"Yes I'm positive" I said as I tried wiggling my legs to no avail "See"
He walked to the end of the bed as he closely examined my legs
"Ow!" I shouted glaring at him " Did you just pinch me?"
"Yes and I'm glad you felt that, so you can feel the pain but can't move your legs?" He asked as I nodded "Hmm... I see"
"Doctor what does this mean?" My mum asked as I noticed the glint of tears in her eyes
The doctor opened his mouth to respond before a nurse walked in with a file
"The results of her X-ray scan" she said
"Thank you" he said as she nodded and left
I and my mum watched him look through the file one by one before he finally spoke
"The results of your X-ray shows your spinal cord has been injured that it's what it making you to not to be able to move them"
"What exactly are you saying doctor?" I asked
"I'm sorry Miss Olivia but you're paralyzed" he said as just then the tears fell from my mum's eyes
I'm paralyzed
Two months later
"Olivia honey, hurry up or we'll both be late!" My mum shouted from outside
"I'll be out in a minute! " I responded as I looked at myself in mirror in front of me and touched my legs
"This is not you" I said to myself
