It was the middle of the night, and you woke up to make some tea and light a candle to take with you. Every night you do this for Horace. He usually has a nightmare, and you are usually there to calm him. You finish making the tea and walk to his room. He doesn't lock his door, for you, so you walk in. You find him tossing and turning, drenched in sweat. You carefully shake him, and he jolts up, breathing heavily.
"Horace, it is okay. It was just another nightmare." you say, calmly, looking him. He nods slightly and looks at you. You put the tea beside his bed and all of a sudden he embraces you. He usually thanks you a million times, but you never really touch like this. He is shaking a bit and he is cold.
Once he lets go you hand him the tea and go to your room. You quietly walk away.
"Y/n, are you l-leaving?" he whispers. You look at him and see the fear in his eyes. You decide not to leave because he has never been this scared.
"No." you say as you sit next to him on the bed and hug him again. His breathing steadies, and you still hold him close. After a few minutes he speaks up.
"T-thank you. I really don't know what I-I would do without y-you." he looks up to you and you feel his face warm up. "I mean, you always look after me and never fail to calm me."
"No problem, I just have never seen you this scared. What was the nightmare about?" you reply. He blushes furiously and looks back down.
"I-it, ummm, wasaboutyou." he says, quickly. You then turn multiple shades of red and pull his chin up, gently, so he is looking at you.
"Tell me more." he blushes an even deeper color, if possible, and nods.
"It was normal at first, but all I remember is that you, you left me. We were in the forest walking together and you just left me. I was calling your name and running everywhere looking for you. I got stuck in the bog and you never came back." tears starts to come down off his face and he is sitting there next to you whimpering.
"Oh Horace. You know I will never do anything like that. I promise." he looks back up nodding again.
"Thank you. I really appreciate it more than you think."
"Well, I don't really know what to think." you say, and you really mean it because you just do this out of friendship. It really hasn't meant much more to you than that. But as you think about what Horace was thinking. Why was he so scared about you leaving? "Horace."
"Yes, y/n."
"What else can you tell me about the dream? Like why was it specifically me in it, not that it is a bad thing."
"Well, ummm, you, I, we. I asked you to come with me on..." he mumbled, not finishing the sentence. He didn't have to finish the sentence though, you knew the rest.
He had feelings for you.
You never really looked at you guys that way. Sure you were always together, but in a friendly way. Maybe he saw it that way and you never knew. You didn't really mind putting things that way.
"Horace."
"Y/n"
"I like you too."
