It was Friday- which also meant that it was the last day I would be spending three hours with Jagger. I could now walk without help, and felt as good as new.

That was the plus of being healed.

The downside was that I had to go back to training. Just the memory of the amount of lactic acid that would build up made my muscles clench with fear. Thanks to my doctor, though, I was only allowed to go for one and a half hours instead of the complete three.

Thank Goddess for that.

Rayn had dropped me off at Jagger's today before heading to training, and I was walking to the kitchen.

I hadn't really taken the time to appreciate Jagger's house, but when I did, it was totally worth it.

The foyer was beautiful, rising the two stories of his house, with the upstairs having a catwalk that overlooked the dark hardwood flooring. A wrought iron chandelier hung down, and Edison bulbs illuminated the space. To the left was the staircase, and to the right was the hallway which opened up into the living room and kitchen area. A beautiful arched window graced the outer wall above the door, providing light during the day.

If I could have a dream house, this would probably be it.

I heard some shuffling around, and was greeted with the sight of Jagger's gloriously muscular back straining to do something. Although I was ninety percent sure that despite his height, he couldn't reach something, I wasn't positive. He could be doing some weird man stretch.

When he turned around with a can of chocolate frosting, I got my answer. He was, in fact, reaching for something.

But why would he ingest that crap?

At my raised eyebrows, he smiled. "It's for Rebecca. She's my very distant cousin, and she and her family are visiting."

I nodded, accepting the explanation. Then I smiled sweetly. "Do I get some?"

He rolled his eyes. "I'm pretty sure that would very detrimental to your recovery."

Harrumphing, I stormed out of the room, Jagger's laughter echoing behind me.

"Wait!" He called. "Are you up for a run?"

My interest was piqued. I swiveled back to the kitchen and perked up.

"You should be fully healed by now, so I was thinking we could go for a run; let our wolves out."

"Okay," I said, but despite agreeing to a run, I was a bit hesitant about shifting completely. It would be the first time since Svek-

I cut off my train of thought before I started to cry.

Jagger smiled reassuringly, and damn if that beautiful smile didn't make him look even hotter.

He walked past me, gently nudging me forward with his hand at the small of my back. We made our way to his backyard, which had the forest at the borderline. It was cold outside- as it was December- yet Jagger's hand on my back was a searing heat that I couldn't ignore. I recognized the familiar little tug that pulled me to him as our mate bond. Since it wasn't completed, I couldn't feel his emotion, have a mind link, or share his strength, but I wanted to. Being able to be this amazing, kind, virile man's fully bonded mate would be the greatest thing that had happened to me so far in life. Shifting was up on the list, but that had immediately resulted in an ancient evil hunting me. So completing our bond would automatically rank as being number one.
