"Raffy? Is that you?"

I raised my eyebrows from the familiarity of the voice, before turning and looking at the stranger, whom I tried so hard to forget about.

"Oh, Jared. Hi." I smiled, faking my surprise. Well, for once, atleast all the feelings I had when I see him aren't present anymore. We had a relationship, that lasted for about a year. Then I found out that he was three-timing with my older stepsisters.

Yeah, he's a jerk.

Well, he did receive a beautiful black-eye, from yours truly, and the day when I gave him that, was the same day that I broke up with him.

Oh, did I mention that, that day was also the same date that I gracefully cried inside my room, and before I knew it, I had two large feathery wings ripping out from my back.

It was painful as hell, and was bloody as childbirth. I spent five whole days of being in my room, trying to move it and fold it back into place, and after I did, I cleaned all the blood off and laughed, believing that I'm going crazy.

My so-called Family, couldn't even care less on what I was doing, or what had happened to me. Why? Because Father hates me, for looking like my dead mom.

Fortunately, my feathery wings, can fold inside the skin of my back and pretend that it wasn't even there. No bulk, and no trace of wings. That's why I can still pretend that I'm normal. And that's why I can still wear clothes that I like. But, I now knew what wolverine felt, every time he unveils his claws, In my case, my wings.

It hurts everytime.

It was quite a fun day, to remember. Har, har. Note the sarcasm.

"You look good Raffy. Been working out?"

Yeah, I've been working with my wings, trying to master the art of flying, nothing much really. Yeah, life's been pretty realistic for me Jared.

"Uh, yeah. You could say that." I shoved my hands in my pockets, looking at my now-interesting red sneakers.

"I knew it. Gosh, you look really good-I mean, just- wow." He steps closer to me, eyeing me with interest, from my head, down to my toes. Gee, thanks. Remind me again to pay you later for even complementing me, you jerk.

"Uh, thanks. Anyway, I have to go. Bye." I turned around, walking briskly, ignoring his lame calls. What? He was the first one that broke my heart, and it was getting quite awkward.

I sighed, slowing down the pace of my walk, before stopping to look at a Jewelry shop. I pushed the door open, expecting to see loads of customers, but to my surprise, it was deserted. Maybe because the jewelries were too expensive.

The old lady behind the counted, eyed me from head to toe, before continuing her manicure. It was quite amusing really, but since she didn't seem like the type to be joking around with, I decided to hold my laughter in.

I walked around the green tiles, admiring the gold curtains, and the emerald wallpapers. It was luxurious, and elegant.

"If you're not going to buy something, then please be on your way." The ruffled voice of the old lady rang around the room, shattering my daydreams.

I nodded to her, and turned towards the door, before something caught my eye. It was a necklace. It had diamond stones, serving as the necklace's chain, and a sapphire and ruby stones, shaped as two pairs of wings.

It was breathtaking.

I turned away, knowing that I didn't have the money to pay for it, and anyway, it's not worth it. My stepsisters would probably even steal it or something. That's why it's not worth it.

I'm not worth it.

I sighed, walking towards the door and exiting the shop. Somehow, my mood got lighter, and at the same time, my mood got worse. Maybe, that's what the necklace represents. Being able to experience and feel happiness, and at the same time, suffering from sadness.

"Ow!" A screechy voice exclaimed. Oops, I stepped on her foot. I looked up at the girl, whom had blue eyes, curled hair and a red dress. She was pretty, but clearly, she was the type of girl who feeds on children's dreams. She can be quite beautiful, if she can muster her courage to lessen her make-up.

"Oh, I'm sorry." I bit my lip, looking at her in apology. The man whom had his arm clinged at by the snotty girl, didn't even glanced at us, or her rather. He looked really bored though. As if he was forced to come here, wearing a black leather jacket, and some khaki pants. Eventually, I found myself staring at the side of his face, he was gorgeous, yet dangerous.

Looking around, I noticed every woman's heads were turned towards him. Some were even giggling, and some were even discreetly taking a picture of him. The girl, however, didn't seem to be having a nice day. Maybe it's because of girls, drooling over his boyfriend, and also, the fact that I made it a lot worse when I stepped on her foot and stared at both her, and her boyfriend.

"Bitch." She muttered, stomping away and dragging the man with her. The man lazily turned his brunette head to face me. My eyes widened in anticipation as his bluish-gray eyes met mine. His eyes, were filled with sadness and depression.

He felt alone.

Suddenly, my back ached, as if my wings were about to rip my top off and pop out any moment. He narrowed his eyes at me, before walking with the girl in a much faster pace.

I took three steps back, before inhaling and exhaling. Mind over body.

Mind over wings.

I breathed out a sigh of relief, continuing to stroll around the mall. Everything was just a colorful blur to me. On my mind, was a certain man whom looked at me, with his piercing bluish-gray eyes, and with it, he knew exactly what I've been feeling.

Feeling alone, because no one really understands.

I found myself smiling without reason at all, my wings-forgotten.
