Anna sat impatiently in her last period ready to see Brady. She could not wait to meet him at her locker. Even though she just met him, she felt a spark between them and she felt like she had known him for a while. She liked Brady. And he liked her. She could tell. The way he fidgeted when he saw her. The way he looked at her. She could just tell.
When the bell rang, she practically ran to her locker and waited. She was happy to see Brady walking to her locker. She gave him a small wave and a smile.
"Hey there!" Said Brady in an excited tone.
"Hey!" Replied Anna. "You ready?"
"Yup! Let's go. We can go in my car. My mom is going to have some friends over so we can go get some coffee instead of a movie. We'll come back after to get your car, okay?" Said Brady as he watched her nod at him."So tell me something about yourself, Brady. Other than the obvious." Asked Anna when they were in the car.
"And what is the obvious Ms. Macalister?" Asked Brady.
"Well, you are a "cool" kid. You are on the football team. And you ask the new girl out on a date her first day." Said Anna with a small smirk.
"Sounds pretty accurate. Well, I am actually on the soccer team-"
"What really?! I am trying out for the girls soccer team!" Anna interrupted.
"Awesome! Well like I was saying, I am on the soccer team, I volunteer to tutor on Saturdays, and I eat lunch in the library to study while I eat." He told Anna.
Anna blushed while fidgeting with her nails.
"What about you Anna? Tell me about yourself." Said Brady.
"Well I am 17, I work at the coffee shop across the street from our school, and i have never been asked out before!" She said to Brady.
"Are you saying I am the first?"
"Yup!" She replied.
"How could a girl so pretty never be asked out by anybody." Asked Brady grinning at Anna.
She blushed and smiled at Brady.
"I guess I am not that likable. Not everybody is so naturally pretty."
"Don't say that. You are beautiful. Whoever did not like you lost somebody great!" He said grinning.
"Thanks. You are the first one to ever say that to me. Your sweet you know." She said smiling. When they got to the coffee shop, they sat together and drank coffee. For a while they just talked and talked. Expressing their lives and stories and experiences.
"Well before I moved here, I lived in New York. I lived with my dad. My mom left us when I was five. I always thought it was my fault, you know. I always asked myself what I did for her to leave. What did I do? Was i not a good daughter? Was I not good enough?" A tear rolled down her cheek and Brady whipped it off.
"I know it was not your fault. You are perfect. It was not you."
Anna did something she wanted to do when she first saw Brady, she reached over the table, cupped his face, and kissed Brady. When she separated her lips from his, she smiled and said, "Thank you." She kissed him one last time and stood up. He rose with her and they walked to the car. Anna slowly grabbed Brady's hand and kept walking. There it was. The spark they both felt the first time they saw each other.
