I sit on the edge of the building deciding whether or not to take my life. I think of all the reasons as to why I should:
Bullied
I'm alone
My family is wrecked
My dad is shit at being a dad
I am a nobody
That last thought remains in my head for a couple of minutes. I am a nobody. And it's true, my death wouldn't cause any disruption or damage to anyone on this planet, yet I am still here. Surviving is hard. Dying is easy. I look up to the sky, it's cloudy, as if the sun is trying to hide away from the horrible thing I'm about to do. I stand, on the ledge. I'm ready.

I tell myself everything will be fine, once I hit the ground, all pain will be gone. All pain needs to be gone. I look behind me, just incase the janitor saw me come up here and wondered what I was doing, as I'm looking, I see a tired-blue girl, also on the ledge. She looks familiar, her silky golden- brown hair flows in the wind, revealing her sun-kissed tan, and her bright blue eyes. I decide to investigate, demand her to tell me why she is up here as well.

As I get near, I realise she is familiar. Kayla. Kayla Mond. One of the popular kids at my current school. I also realise that she's been crying...an awful lot. She's sitting on the ledge looking down, so she hardly realises me sitting right next to her.
'Beautiful up here isn't it?' I question, which makes her Jump and look in my direction. She nervously laughs before answering a simple 'yeh.'
We sit in silence before she breaks it.
'But we weren't up here for the view were we?' I look at her, as she looks at me, as I'm close, I can see every single detail on her face. The freckles that just lie against her nose, her eyes, which have a grey ring around the bright blue colours of her eye, how she has a little scar just above her eyebrow, and a little mole just on her jaw line.
'No' I say, a little more nervous than I expected. She looks down again.
'Don't jump' I say In my most caring voice. She doesn't look at me, she doesn't even say a word. I take one last look at her before I look down at the ground with her.
'This pain, do you always feel-just feel this type of pain, and the only way to stop it, is to kill your conscious?'  She asks all of a sudden, breaking the silence.
'I've become so used to that pain, that more pain is building on top of it' she says with a sarcastic laugh.
I stare at her. Speechless.
Pain building on top of another type of pain.
Her words are like spoken poems. Beautiful yet damaging in a way.
'I suppose pain will never go away' I say after minutes of thinking.
'I suppose we learn to live with it' she smirks, and starts to stand up. I look, scared of what her next move might be.
She brushes down her skirt and looks up at the sky. She smiles.
'Why are you up here?' I ask.
'I've never seen you up here?'  She turns her attention to me, and opens her mouth, yet she hesitates.
'I feel like, it's all my fault, I feel as though my dad died, because of me.'
I remember now, Kayla Mond had lost her dad 5 months ago, she was on a skiing trip, and was trapped in an avalanche, her dad managed to free Kayla, but not himself, and sadly suffocated.
I couldn't speak, I was afraid as to what might come out.
'What are you doing up here?'
She asks.
'I'm done with life.'
She had a confused look on her face.
'I need to die.' I say.
She backs away slightly, and looks back down.
'I'm sorry, I don't understand?' She says puzzled.
'Everything is too much, nobody is here anymore, life isn't looking good.'
Her eyes were locked in the ground for a good 5 minutes.
'I should be getting to class.' She says, eyes still locked in the ground.
'So should I' I agree, only because my mood for dying had been killed.
Maybe another day  I think to myself .
But, Kayla had changed my perspective of life. Pain is a living thing, if you feel pain, you are alive.
