Louis POV

I am on my way to her parents house to ask if I can marry her.  Yesterday I saw her running home carry two bags of what I assumed was her stuff.  I put my horse in the barn and ran to the house, I didn’t know why I felt like I needed to get to her quickly but I ran as fast as I could.

When I got in there she was in the bathroom, I could hear her crying so I tried the door and it was unlocked.  I went in and her legs where so covered in cuts that you could barely see and white.  All scarlet.  I held her tight, promising myself she would never have to go through anything like this again.

I knocked.  “Hello?”  A man opened the door.  I think it’s her dad…

“Hi can I speak to you.”  My knees were knocking together…

“What about?”  He asked making no move to let me in.

“Ashley.”

“Okay come in, I’ll get her mother.”

“What are you getting me for?”  A woman’s voice asked.  She walked around the corner, I have to say I don’t know who Ashley gets her looks from but it’s not her parents…

“I want to marry your daughter.”  I said as calmly as I could.

“You want to marry her?  That’s stupid.  You’re a handsome young man you could have someone pretty, someone skinny unlike Ashley.  You better think this through.”  Her dad said.

“I want to marry her.  All you have to do is sign this paper and she will be free to marry me.”

“Does she want to marry you?”  Her mom asked frowning.

“I haven’t asked her yet.  I wanted to ask you first.”

“Just give me the paper.  It’s your stupid decision.”  Yes!!!!!

“Here you go.  Feel free to read through it.”  I said handing him the paper and trying not to dance around the room.

“Alright, she’s yours to marry.  And son?”

“Yes?”  I asked

“Take care of her.”

“I will.  Goodbye now Mister Smith.”  I left and ran all the way back to the ranch house.  Our stay was almost over, it has been three and a half weeks.
