Ana had not meant for it to end this way. She most definitely had not meant for it to start this way either, but beggars can't be chosers. But what Ana didn't understand why it had to have fire. Smoke, would have been better, and steam would have been accepted, and water would have been the best. But, she thought, as she hung upside down from the Giants fire pit, right now any of those would be okay. And the worst part was the inhibitor chip that the gifted board had inserted into her neck when she had been taken to Triton Prison.
'Convicted, saved, convicted. The irony.'
'Hey! No talking!' The giant in charge of making sure that she did not shift, even though she could not shift. It was a job that was usually assigned to the weaker of the Giants.
'Love you to.' She whispered, and closed her eyes. Ana's dreams had always mimicked real life, either the future or the past. As she slid into R.E.M, she knew that this was going to be the past, which was unfortunate, because she would really have enjoyed learning how to get out of this situation.
