The first album I wrote was called "Eclipse" and it's actually a concept album. The thing is the tracklist isn't exactly in chronological order. This means that the first song on the album isn't actually the beginning of the story. I know it sounds complicated and all but I'm here to set things straight with the story of the album.
The first song, chronologically, is "Natural Disaster". The song is about the main character of the story, named Guy, meeting someone who turns out to be a total jerk. The song is actually in the point of view of Guy as he is talking to the jerk by telling him that he's trying to be nice and he shouldn't be such a natural disaster, which is a metaphor for jackass.
The next song is "Hurricane", this song is about Guy suddenly having emotions for the Jackass, as the song says, "Why are you suddenly the one I wanna chase". This is when Guy realizes that he's falling for the Jackass, which reveals his attraction to bad boys.
The next song is "Tornado" which is about Guy telling the Jackass how he always seems to mess things up with relationships. The song is about Guy talking about his fear of getting into a new relationship but is willing to start a relationship with the Jackass and love him for as long as he can.
The next song is "Eclipse", which is about Guy telling the Jackass what he wants in a relationship. Guy expresses his fear of them breaking up. This later leads to their nickname for their relationship known as Eclipse because they're rare like a eclipse.
The next song is "Quicksand" which is about Guy's relationship with the Jackass suddenly going downhill. The song explains that he feels like their relationship is in quicksand. When the song says, "We're losing breath with every kiss" it means that Guy feels like their relationship is suffocating even when they try to pretend to love each other. The song proves that no relationship should be forced because it could lead to terrible consequences.
The next song is "Volcano" which is about Guy wanting the Jackass to let go of his emotions. Guy feels that the Jackass doesn't love him so he tells him to "explode like a volcano" which is a metaphor for letting go of emotions. Guy's encouragement later turns out to backfire on him when the Jackass still won't tell Guy how he feels.
The next song is "Thunder" which is about Guy feeling like he needs to break up with the Jackass because their relationship wasn't working out. The song mainly is about Guy remembering everything the Jackass said that had hurt his feelings before. The song is a prequel to "Earthquake" where it eventually leads to Guy telling the Jackass how he feels about their relationship.
The next song is "Earthquake" because it's actually a breakup song. The song is about how Guy's relationship with the Jackass turns out to have a lot of flaws, thus causing them to break up. I used "earthquake" as a metaphor for breaking up. Usually when things go wrong, things start to get a little shaky in life. So that's the whole point of this song, it's about the feeling of losing someone you loved.
The next song is "Blizzard" which is about Guy trying to cope with his breakup with the Jackass. Guy finds it hard to get over the Jackass because he thought that the Jackass was his true love. It's possible that he thinks this because it might've been the first time that he's ever loved someone. The song is about the denial stage after a tough breakup.
The next song is "Tsunami"which is more of the anger stage after a tough breakup. The song explains how Guy has been deeply hurt by the Jackass and is starting to take his anger out on him. I feel that this song kind of touches on the subject of closure. Well dealing with closure in a bad way. "Tsunami" points out the do's and don't's of an aftermath of a breakup.
The next song is "Rain" because it explains the depression stage after a breakup. The stage of bargaining is skipped because Guy has no contact with the Jackass. The song is obviously about Guy crying over his recent breakup with the Jackass. I felt that the song really captured the reality of a terrible breakup. Like it's exactly how you'd feel when your heart has been broken. Even though it isn't the first time, it still hurts like hell.
The next song is "Flood" which is about Guy struggling to get over the Jackass and leads him to have suicidal thoughts. Guy feels like he wants to drown himself in his own tears. Which is a metaphor for killing himself. Despite the meaning of the song, it proves that people could kill themselves because of the loss of a loved one. It points out that no one should kill themselves. Everyone should continue living their lives because there's so much up ahead in life.
The next song is "Sandstorm" which is about Guy suddenly seeing the Jackass's face everywhere and it causes a conflict within himself. This is the turning point for Guy as he slowly begins to realize that there are other things he should appreciate in life. This is a prequel to "Asteroid" because it took some familiar faces to help him realize what he should be doing.
The next song is "Asteroid" which is about Guy finally moving on from the Jackass and has found the real meaning of life. The song explains how Guy had always known that the Jackass would eventually break his heart. "Asteroid" is used as a metaphor for the end of a relationship. When they broke up, it was like an asteroid had hit their world. But for Guy, he did not let this asteroid impact him the way the Jackass wanted it to.
The last song is "Moonlight" which is known as the acceptance stage for Guy. He had finally accepted the fact that Jackass wasn't the right person for him. This song is about Guy finally living life the way he should be. It also points out that Guy had finally found himself after a long bumpy road with the Jackass. Because of that, I think Guy should thank the Jackass for helping him find his true self.
Anyways, that was the story behind the whole "Eclipse" album. I should've written it that way the first time but I wasn't fully capable of understanding what I was writing. Over the past year, I had learned a lot more about writing and I hope to share that with you guys. Well, as always, thanks for reading my shit. I love you all.
